Tax Increase Vote on 2019 Lakewood Municipal Budget

Lakewood Township committee will have a public hearing and vote on the 2019 municipal budget tomorrow night, with a 3.5% increase over last year's final appropriations. The tax rate, for every $100 your home is assessed, will increase from $0.592 to $0.6402. In simple words, this will increase the "average" home assessed at $500,000 by $250 this year, to cover the municipal portion, not the school and other taxes.

The township anticipates a surplus of $19 Million dollars toward the budget despite the tax increase.

New construction and additions from last year added $233,615,743 in assessed  property values and new ratables brought revenue of $1,383,434 to the tax rolls.

The Municipal budget is at $95 Million dollars and $64.5 million will be raised by taxation.
