Ocean County Authorise Funds to Widen Cross st, Upgrade Intersection at Chestnut & New Hampshire

Ocean County Freeholders authorized in a first reading on May 15 a few upgrades for Lakewood. Widening Cross street to 3 Lanes , Upgrades to the intersection at New Hampshire and Chestnut putting up a traffic light, and upgrades to the County Building on 4th street Between Clifton and Lexington. The second reading will take place on June 5th.

1.widening of Cross street in Lakewood Phase 1 East for  $2.5 Million
2.Reconstruction of  Intersection at New Hampshire and Chestnut $1 Million Dollars
3.Renovations and upgrading the County Building of Northern resource on 4th street and Clifton in Lakewood for $ 2.7 Million

ORDINANCE #2019-13 - An Ordinance authorizing the Reconstruction and Widening of Cross Street - Phase I (East), located in the Township of Lakewood, in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, and appropriating $2,500,000.00 therefor and authorizing the issuance of $2,375,000.00 in Bonds or Bond Anticipation Notes of the County of Ocean to finance the same.



 ORDINANCE #2019-14 - An Ordinance authorizing the Reconstruction of New
Hampshire Avenue at Chestnut Street and State Route 70, located in the Township of
Lakewood, in the County of Ocean, State of New Jersey, and appropriating
$1,000,000.00 therefor and authorizing the issuance of $950,000.00 in Bonds or Bond
Anticipation Notes of the County of Ocean to finance the same.

ORDINANCE #2019-17 - An Ordinance authorizing Renovations and Upgrades to
the Northern Resource Building located in Lakewood Township, in the County of
Ocean, State of New Jersey, and appropriating $2,700,000.00 therefor and
authorizing the issuance of $2,565,000.00 in Bonds or Bond Anticipation Notes to
finance the same.

  1. So basically raising our taxes (issuong bonds) to fund tgese projects. Yes spread out amongst the entire county. But still we are paying for the developers profits. Even Lakewood only charges like $600 per house impact fee for Cross st. Peanuts compared for the cost of upgrades.

    1. I don't know why the County Doesn't have the funds available to cover this. All this construction is a Gold Mine for the county. They get all the revenue, and very little added expenses (unlike the Township, where the expenses outweigh the added tax revenue. what is the County doing with all the money?

  3. That expenditure is being reimbursed, with no cost to the taxpayers.
