Lidl Discount Grocer to Replace Best Buy in Howell

German discount grocer Lidl is planning to open another New Jersey store - this one on Route 9 in Howell at the site of a former Best Buy. The sale of the 30,000-square foot space was completed Monday, according to Maurice Zekaria of Paramount Realty, which previously owned the building.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Lidl declined to confirm it’s coming to Howell, but hinted an announcement would be forthcoming.

“It is too early to offer specifics on this site, but I can tell you that we are very interested in bringing our award-winning shopping experience to Howell,” spokesman Chandler Ebeier said in an email to NJ Advance Media. “I expect to have more information over the coming months, and will look forward to sharing those details with you.”

Another Germany-based grocer - Aldi - has expanded faster in New Jersey. It has stores in the same towns as Lidl among its more than 40 locations around the state. (NJ.com)
