  1. Satmar community??? He was the last true litvak left. Everyone else were influenced by the Heimishe (Galician, Polish and Hungarian).

    1. Rabbi Wein wrote in one of his articles that when the Satmar Rebbe first met him he was a clean shaven Rav in Miami . One of the first things the Satmar Rebbe asked him was what his view about Israel is. At first he tried to evade the question and said “Chazal talk about the maalos of Eretz Yisroel…” The SR said “you know that isn’t what I’m asking about” RBW then gave an answer that he knew the SR strongly disagreed with. He was expecting the SR to react strongly but actually he only calmly said was “Ihr hut a toes” They had a very good relationship afterwards.

Go to the 31-minute mark. Listen for about a minute. It's one of the many, many times he discusses his relationship with the Satmer Rebbe. (As every great person, he allowed himself to, and desired to learn from many great people.)

    3. Typical of modox living in their own bubble. Somehow places like kelm where men and women walked on opposite sides of the street. People like r elya and r chatzkel are not real litvaks

    4. He was an amazing, brilliant man. Talented beyond: Talmid Chochom, Captivating speaker, amazing writer, posek who gave semichah to hundreds, mechaber sefer, head of the OU, etc. A great spokesman for the frum world who said things straight without sugar-coating.

I can't say that your story isn't true, but when he was asked on an interview on kol mivaser how he was able to have such a warm relationship with the satmar rav considering how different their hashkafa was in regards to Israel, he replied that it's interesting that the topic never came up in all his encounters he had with the Rebbe.

    6. Although he was a real litvak (or perhaps because he was), he still was able to appreciate other sects of yiddishkeit. Besides for Satmar Rav, he had a chavrusashaft with the Taycher Rav in Shulchan Aruch to learn shulchan Aruch the old hungarian way.

    7. Anon at 9:57. No clue what you're talking about. He was a great asset to all of klal yisrael and will be sorely missed by hundreds of thousands of true yidden. And just because he came from a different generation does not mean he was 'modern' He was a very choshuve Jew in every way who accomplished tons on every front. For those who never heard his amazing speeches, just listen to this clip about the Satmar Rav and see how awesome a a speaker he was and how much tochen he had. This applies to his thousands of lectures, and his many outstanding books as well. Yehi zichro baruch!

    8. Some one wrote "Somehow places like kelm where men and women walked on opposite sides of the street.... are not real litvaks".
But it isn't true. Some how, going to Tashlich on separate streets (Like Lakewood today) became 'men and women walked on opposite sides of the street"

    9. Until you have documentation I don’t believe for a second that in Kelm men and women walked on different sides of the street

  2. Do some reading you will find out they had a very close relationship

  3. Thanks to askanim who bully the community to vote for democrats
Living in New Jersey is unaffordable as costs keep going up even in Lakewood Taxes going up
    Car insurance
    Utilities
All this a direct result of Trenton democrats and their leftist policies of giving licenses to illegals
Pushing green energy without accountability to keep up with demands
People are just not making enough for these added expenses and now tuition has gone up too.

    1. Schnall keeps quiet as his fellow democrats drive up the cost of living in NJ
      No tuition relief
No new application for child care
But keep voting for dems because a few selfish aakanim are making money off their connections while they use and abuse lakewood naive voters rights with pressure tactics of daas Torah and other intimidating methods enriching themselves off the backs of the poor as they laugh all the way to the bank
get ready for this election season with more empty false promises as they will fool you again to vote for their buddies stealing resources away from the community for their pet projects. The paid off lakewood media will be all in to fool the voters again just like they did with Josh Gottheimer who finished 4th place and had zero chance but they had no bisha lying to the rabbonin to force the community vote

    2. The new increases in health insurance costs are due to the Republicans cutting funding. If you voted for Trump you did this to yourself

    1. Why not just dispute the erroneous charge, instead of publicizing it here?

    2. The township pays the fee for public school students for courtesy busing paid for by the municipal tax which is discrimination against private school yeshiva students and possibly illegal

    3. the LSTA charges are illegal based on the fact that they only charge religious Jews the fee but not the rest of the population

  5. Why do girls schools start a week later? The parents have enough on their shoulders without having to keep their daughters entertained for another week.

    1. School is not a babysitting service.

      Delete
    2. Even if school is not a babysitting service it does not benefit the chinuch of the girls to have them loafing around for another week.

    3. It's hilarious how our mechanchos talk out of both sides of their mouths on one hand the education is so crucial blah blah on the other hand forever and ever the girls need a break.... Yes that has to be a happy medium but I have my suspicions that a lot of this is just a matter of convenience and money saving for schools

      Delete
    4. Actually, the girls will have a much better year if the teachers get the week off.

      Delete
    5. Maybe had the teachers gone to a school with a longer schedule they would be able to cope better with only two months off in the summer. Time to break the cycle.

      Delete
    6. 20-30 girls in a class is cheaper than individual babysitting. Of course, the daycare industry still insists to charging state rates.

      Delete
    7. 1:07, did you bother looking at the girls school calendar??? They start 9/3, they have school for 2.5 weeks, then they have VACATION for FOUR WEEKS.

WHY DO THEY NEED THIS WEEK OFF ???????

      Delete
    8. give them a month off then they will have an even better year.

  6. Be happy it's not a babysitting service. If you break down the pricing by the hour, you are paying a lot less for school than you would pay for babysitting.
It's sad that your children are not your priority.

    1. It is sad. It's really, really sad. I really really wish I could be a full time mother. Unfortunately I'm stuck working to pay the bills.

  7. It also doesn't benefit anyone that the girls and boys in lakewood are not on the same schedule. Look at many other towns and cities. There's a schedule that they follow and vacations coincide. Thereby allowing parents to have a normal schedule and not need to figure out how to entertain kids for 3 or 4 weeks. Yes between the time girls and boys have off over the summer that's what's it amounts to. How are families supposed to function like this and pay tuitions that keep rising??

  8. There is no bussing before Labor Day, if girls schools started it would be a huge mess.

  10. I understand your frustration. You could probably use a therapist, and we can work through your issues together.
If anyone needs a therapist during the week that the girls are off, please feel free to call me.
We are running a sale during this week, only $275 for 50 minutes - a true bargain.

    1. A true bargain! See, it's your mother's fault. When you were 2 years old, your mother told you no to driving her car. That's why you're frustrated and have a hard time coping.

Oh, times up. When would you like your next appointment?
