Sunday August 24 Rosh Chodesh Elul News Updates Lakewood

Weather: 82° Sunshine and clouds mixed
Coastal flood advisory until 2pm

-Elul zman some yeshivos started already while most begin tonight and tomorrow

-Trump: I have a Constitutional Right to appoint Judges and U.S. Attorneys, but that RIGHT has been completely taken away from me in States that have just one Democrat United States Senator. This is because of an old and outdated “custom” known as a BLUE SLIP, that Senator Chuck Grassley, of the Great State of Iowa, refuses to overturn, even though the Democrats, including Crooked Joe Biden (Twice!), have done so on numerous occasions. Therefore, the only candidates that I can get confirmed for these most important positions are, believe it or not, Democrats! Chuck Grassley should allow strong Republican candidates to ascend to these very vital and powerful roles, and tell the Democrats, as they often tell us, to go to HELL

- For the first time in Yerushalayim's history, the majority of first graders will be enrolled in ultra-Orthodox schools. Out of around 16,000 Jerusalemites beginning their school journey on September 1, some 8,400 will go to Charedi schools, compared to around 4,300 students in state schools, and 3,500 in Arab schools.(Amit)

- Long lines at Ruby shoe sale

- The Powerball jackpot is rising to an estimated $750 million for Monday night drawing, the 10th largest in the game's history, after no single player matched all numbers drawn last night.

- Sale ends today at Hat Source 15%- 35% off located at Grebow shopping center Lakewood/Howell border

- Southwest Airlines will begin requiring plus-size passengers to purchase two seats..

- New Prescription Delivery Fee
Starting September 1st, all prescription deliveries from Lakewood Pharmacy Chain, including Madison, Refuah, Westgate, and 3M+ Pharmacies, will include a $4 delivery fee.
This change helps them continue providing reliable and timely delivery service to the community. For your convenience, in-store pickup remains available at all locations, with typically shorter wait times.
To use the delivery service, customers will now be required to have a credit card on file.

- Ruby shoe sale today and Monday only $44 a pair located at Meon Bais Yaakov behind Bnos Melech 550 James st. 10:00am - 8:00pm Boys, girls weekday & shabbos Leather & Velvet

- Firefighters announce that they have achieved control over a brush fire that broke out on the western outskirts of Yerushalayim today, threatening the nearby town of Mevaseret Zion and drivers on Route 1, between Tel Aviv and the capital.

- Name added to  krethcnif  Siget rebbe who collapsed during mincha shabbos afternoon  name is  ברוך זיידא אליעזר זאב בן שפרה

Gov. Phil Murphy says he's not sure Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill's plan to freeze utility rates is viable.(njglobe)

- Pickleball Kingdom is planning a new indoor facility with climate controlled indoor courts and a pro shop in South Brunswick

- First selichos for sefsrdim planned tomorrow night at the kosel with tehillim for the hostages.  Hundred thousand expected

- The Tel Aviv municipality has sparked outrage by demanding dozens of synagogues in the city sign a contract promising to operate “without distinction of gender or faith,” while those that refuse to sign face eviction. In other words, Orthodox synagogues are being asked to stop operating according to Jewish law, The actual plan? “To approach roughly 130 synagogues and have them sign an allocation contract stating that ‘the synagogue will provide religious services to all residents of the neighborhood and nearby areas according to their character and nature, without distinction of age, gender, or faith, and the prayer text will be determined by the managing committee accordingly. It is clarified that no activity outside the purpose of the allocation specified above will be permitted,’” (Amit Segal)

  1. Whoever is dumb enough to wear the fake murex techeles is spitting in the eye of halachah, as they admit they for one GO AGAINST the RAMBAM, explaining that the RAMBAM made a mistake in saying that the blood of the chillazon is black like ink

  3. Some kind soul dropped off a large box full of left over cake this morning for the oilam to eat for breakfast. What could be wrong with seemingly day old cake that it was full of flies buzing around it?

  5. 100% Those Bnai Torah who mistakingly wear the fake YU Murex techeles would be well advised to take it off especially now as we enter ELUL!! It is a hoax based on two modern Orthodox YU graduates who figured out a way to remove the red from the well known purple dying ( argamon) murex snail, thus getting blue ( purple is red and blue ) out of the purple fur. It's all true what they tell you about the murex snail that it was used for dying on the coast of EY during ancient times, but what they DON'T TELL YOU zis that it was always used to dye purple NOT blue!!! It's a big hoax!!

  6. I think the play ground was maybe only 5 -10 years old. It was like brand new. Probably somebody in our crooked township has a mishpachah in the playground business, so they tore than the old one to let him build a new one at 20 times the price!!!!

    3. In the free country of America were capitalism rules. They are entitled to make any charge they’d like, but we, the people can stand up and say we’re not going to use you and go to CVS or Amazon or Walmart pharmacy. But you Hold strong and not fold, and will be them will have to fold.

    4. I just came from one of those pharmacies, four people behind the counter, still had to wait, and then they spent their time looking up in their computer, didn't find patient.

Chutzpah that stores are charging for bags and boxes while they get paid by advertisers who sponsor the bags

Chutzpah that the average lakewood residents spends 2 hours a day sitting in traffic

Chutzpah that they approved 4 wedding halls plus 2 smaller halls next to each other with nightly traffic just to say mazel tov

  16. Everyone complaining about the pharmacy reminds me of this story.
A guy calls a store and says how much for xyz, and is told it's 200$. The cake days but last place used to charge me only$100. So he tells him, so go to him, why you coming to me? And he answers because they closed down.
The fact is that insurance reimbursements on many meds is very low, and the pharmacies can't afford to deliver it. If they don't charge they'll be forced to close up.

  23. When people compalin about the going on in Lakewood they have every reason and right as taxpayers. The township committee is a chilul hashem as they dont have public hearings allowing the people voice their concerns. The BOE is spending tax money and is millions in debt to the state.

  24. Rabbi Brodsky takes a strong position against those who challenge the Bais Hvadd. It's interesting to note that he is a mechuten with both Bromberg and Kamenetsky.

    3. matzav with one sided propaganda again, nobody is surprised.

    4. If it's true that he retracted, he is as guilty as those he accused. The bottom line is that those who seek hadracah are lost because many of the Rabbanim say or write things, only to retract them upon learning the facts. It's a horrific issue.

      Delete
    5. So, he retracted is a teirutz now?

Let's just wait for the retraction from those who signed the other letter, some of whom have been playing both sides.
