- The U.S. State Department announced it is reviewing the records of more than 55 million foreigners holding valid U.S. visas to detect possible violations of immigration laws. A violation will lead to visa cancellation and deportation. Among the violations being examined are overstaying the visa validity, criminal activity, threats to public security, and involvement in any form of terrorist activity

- The Jersey Shore will feel some impacts from Hurricane Erin on Thursday in the form of rough surf, coastal flooding and gusty winds as the category 2 storm passes more than 300 miles off the coast. Coastal flood warnings are in effect along the Jersey Shore with Cape May County expecting major flooding, the National Weather Service said.
