  2. I'm sure Lakewood Yeshiva will be delighted to swell it's ranks with thousands of bochurim from EY. But logistically, how is that happening? Dorms, paperwork, tuitions. And then, these guys will be stuck here away from their families? Unable to go visit? And will a similar number of eligible young ladies be sent so that shidduchim will be readily available? Israeli Bnei Torah are getting married at age 20-21. Its optimistic to think that it will be a possibly solution for the shidduch crisis, but it will take a lot to bridge the language and cultural divide. And the bottom line? The supremacy of Toras Eretz Yisrael is unequaled. Are you asking them and the Okam HaTorah to give up on it?

      True, very true.

But logistically, how is that happening? Dorms, tuitions.

The Lakewood community will welcome them with open arms. Every spare bedroom will be given to save our brethren from the Land of Yisroel. The community will participate in ways which it is well known, emulating the chesed of it's forefather, Avraham.

And then, these guys will be stuck here away from their families?

Better here, than there. Better to be spiritually close and physically distanced, than to be physically close and spiritually distanced.

You really missed it. We don't get to decide what are challenges are; we get to decide how we respond to them. If we are unable to learn Torah in Eretz Yisroel, then we learn it wherever we are able to do so. It's what we've been doing for over 2,500 years.

When bachurim are being forced into Ben Gurien's melting pot, then the bachurim aren't the one's "giving up" - they were forced to give it up. There's no choice but to leave.

Other than North Korea and the eruv rav entity, not a single country draft's females into their service. North Korea does it to attempt control it's population, as does the eruv rav entity.

    4. Maybe we should send them to learn in the "holy" buildings of Chachmei Lublin, Salbodka, Kletzk,Telz, Mir, and even older Valozhin. A few to Shanghai. No outside disruptions, no giluy arayot, I'm sure the local population will appreciate them.

  3. With the current anti immigration environment this will never happen. In fact there are very few countries who will take in that many Israelis under the current anti israel cloud we are experiencing.

    1. Dear ab,

You remind me of a similar episode of some 76 years ago. Rav Avrohom Kalmanowitz wrote: “When I came to America, in the middle of the war, I was greatly pained by the indifference displayed by the majority of American Jews. I undertook to save 3,600 of the greatest talmidei chachamim of the generation.” Unfortunately, Rav Avrohom’s efforts to get emergency visas were foiled by several people (he does not mention the names of these “Jewish leaders,” who said, “We cannot place such a burden on the generosity of the United States by having them change the immigration laws.”

Many were thankfully saved. But many more seemed to have been able to be saved. Where will we stand in the current episode of chevlei Moshiach?

  4. Hatzalcha with them all leaving to overseas. Maybe Europe is better, Sure all the magidai shiur will leave their families and move out for the zman? Of course the cost is much more than eretz yisroel where most yeshivas dont charge tuition. Bottom line nobody is leaving eretz yisroel en mass to learn in chutz laaretz.

    1. So interesting. Rav Moshe Sternbauch has recorded his last meeting with Rav Mottel Pogromansky, in France, in 1949 many times. Rav Mottel pointed out: "There's no doubt that what we suffered (the horrors of WWII) is part of Chevlei Moshiach. But we suffered physically, through siege and distress, hunger and torture, and the murder and suffocation of men, women and children. Now, there will be abundance in the world, but the chevlei moshiach will intensify in a spiritual sense. ....Especially in the King's Palace, the Holy Land and will be more difficult... People will need mesirus nefesh in order to survive."

From Pesukim he pointed out that just as in Mitzrayim the horrible torture was followed by the nisayon of great wealth, so too here. Hashem will give us many wealthy Jews. (Rav Mottle told Rav Moshe that Hashem will give us Frum billionaires, something unimaginable in 1949, but has come to be, now.)

After Mitzrayim, the wealth led to "di zahav" and the eigel. "Hashem wants to see how we will utilize our wealth: Will we use this period of relief for avodas Hashem, or will we chase after money and distance ourselves from our Creator."

Boruch Hashem there is so much Torah learning, and so many bnei Torah and bnei Yeshivos, kein yirbu, which has indeed been enabled due to the wealth we were blessed with. Will we now be willing to utilize our completely unnatural wealth for out brethren, to enable them to learn and to save them from spiritual destruction and suffocation?

Bottom line: The magidai shiur will leave their families and move out for the zman, if need be. The bachurim will come with happiness, if need be. And our communities will come together to welcome, feed, house and support our refugee brothers, happily, if need be.

    2. Little sacrifice for the opportunity for our Neturei Kartaniks to act against their Medina.
NK seems to have plenty of money for such foolishness. They'll finance this.

Will change Lakewood from a town with (somewhat) professional meshulacbim to a bunch of yeshiva students.

  5. What was this 'great meeting' with Putin?
I read the ten takeaways on Fox news, and it was clear that Trump got nowhere with this meeting.
Why does he have to lie about these things? And why do people still believe him?

    2. Trump did well. The naive people think Trump with his First meeting with Putin should tell him off. What would that accomplish? Trump is letting it play out making Putin feel good about it. All in due time . Trump needs to get Putin on board once that is done then he can work out differences between zelenski and Putin. Patience , Patience.

    3. The way extreme Pro Trumpers twist themselves into pretzels trying to justify everything he says or does is ridiculous! BH Trump is, so far, very pro Israel. BH, we have (kind of) a conservative in the White House so we don't have to worry about a liberal president. But besides that, Trump is a meshuganer, a liar, impulsive (remember Gaza was going to become the Riviera in the Middle East?). The people who are Naive are those who trust Trump in everything just because he's a friend of Israel and is a political conservative.

    4. Oh, he did well, did he?
      How?
Don't talk for other people, what did he accomplish? Not what do other people think, but what did he do?

    6. Even were Trump to have accomplished nothing he is still who knows how much better than Kamala Harris would have been. And Trump has in fact been a wonderful president. The opposition to him all revolves around wanting more welfare.

    2. 1. Lowering taxes means more debt for the country. Who will pay it?
      2. Prison reform was bi-partisan, any president would have done it.
      3. Abraham Accords was the initiative of the Arabs. Kushner writes in his book that Trump wasn't really interested.
      4. The border isn't our problem. Stop believing the news.
      5. Assassinating Soleimani was takke a good thing. Thank Trump.
