    1. I agree with Bob. This koshercrawler “food critic” should be ashamed of himself. Let him raytz un himself for his fress tayvos and keep his proste’ ways away from our town. Feh!

    2. Wake up and smell the coffee. Look around, don't you see the new Lakewood that exists out there? The New Lakewood wants only the best, New steakhouse coming across seasons, fancy stores, latest model cars (leased) this is all part of the new Lakewood. If you want the original Lakewood go to out of town. Those day are unfortunately over.
Oh but there still is no English for mesivta boys Baruch Hashem! Maybe you should stay now.

    3. No English from 7th grade in the practical sense
Most schools changed 8th to Novi etc disguised as jewish history

      Delete
    4. Navi is Jewish history. Whats disguised about it?

      Delete
    5. So it looks like "secular" subject when in fact the higher grades learn no English at all

      Delete
    6. If Jewish history passes for what the government wants then I don't understand your problem with it. It "has" to be ""secular""???

  4. Sorry to break it to you but Lakewood IS the fress capitol of the tri state area leading with the gashmiyus title too. Thanks to those who decided to lure the entire frum world and move to lakewood stripping it from a torah oriented town to now compete with the 5 towns

  5. Thanks to some greedy developers looking to make some fast cash they sold out entire neighborhoods to Chassidim exclusively and turned Lakewood into Boro Park. They sold out our Bnei Torah, who DONT go to work at 18. They sold out town out to working ppl who didn’t need to move here in the first place. Without doubt there wouldnt be a housing crisis/shortage if they wouldn’t of invited hundreds of families from BP/Willi into Lakewood… I have nothing against Chassidim but there are enough Yeshivaleit to occupy Lakewood, we don’t need Chassidishkeit here, just as KJ or New Square doesn’t need or want us. כל אחד יכיר את מקומו

    1. This is equivalent to saying Elon Musk pays no taxes, or blaming Chareidim in Israel for causing inflation.
There is no factual truth to what you're saying, but BH you found an easy scapegoat.

    2. What are you talking about? The entire oak and vine neighborhood (hundreds of units) as well as many other developments, were marketed exclusively to ppl from BP and Willi. There are literally Imperial Real Estate ads (at least there were) all over Boro Park and Willamsburg. I personally know ppl who couldn't move to Oak and Vine. The real estate agents didn't deal with them bc they weren't Chassidish (talk about irony). As a result, there are hundreds of chassdish families moving in from out of town, which means there's no place for our Yungerleit, the very ppl who made Lakewood what it is today. It's really a very simple Cheshbon, (that's without mentioning the insane market prices today, which has a lot to do with Brooklyn Chassidim paying through the roof for Lakewood, since it is still cheaper than living in BP). And it is shameful that this is happening in a town where Torah is supposed to be paramount.

Its funny how you get defensive when somebody points out the simple truth... there is a huge crisis for housing and Bnei Torah are stuck while working Chassidishe guys are living it up in Oak and Vine. Lakewood was slowly built up over the years and now Chassidim come and slowly take over. The same goes for Williamsburg and Boro Park (the Satmar Rebbe came to Willamsburg after the war and didn't even have his own Minyan. R' Boruch Kaplan arranged a Minyan for him in the building of the Mirrer Minyan). Point being, the Litvishe Bnei Torah are always there first. Same goes for Monsey by the way. R' Reuven with Beis Midrash Elyon and R Yaakov Kamenetsky along with a few Yungerleit were the pioneers of the Frum community in Monsey.

    3. You can go to a CHEAP real estate area and start your own Lakewood.
If you buy like 5 square miles you'll easilt CONTROL who and what comes into YOUR daled amos or shall we say YOUR techoom shabbos.
Until then you are in Lakewood and others are in Lakewood just like you. Go to your Gemarah and chill out there.

    4. You seem to think that all the Fresserei that Lakewood is now famous for comes from the handful of families from Williamsburg. Sorry but as long as they're not selling gefilta fish and chrein platters this is not Williamsburg by a mile. Get your facts straight before you spew your hate.

    5. When the zoning at oak&vine was changed to allow small lots with duplexes the reason given is so that Lakewood residents (people learning in bmg) should have affordable housing. It wasn't that long ago. Then developers and speculators jumped in and bought the newly subdived lots for $35k. Township sold lots for pennies, connected people got lots and flipped them for a huge profit.

  6. It is time to face reality. There are 2 Lakewoods, One of בני תורה that are living בדחקות, and another were they can spend 20k on schnaps for Kiddush club.

    3. Why aren't food and eatery reviewers embarrassed about how they make brochos in the video reviews? They eat the brocha faster than the grub they eat.

  10. Lakewood is a huge place. Some people live bedachakus, some don't. What's the problem? Why is this something to be solved? We can live in harmony, with each person choosing how much gashmiyus to incorporate in their lives.
    Teach your children the same.

  11. The food is expensive and low quality too much oil and not tasty. We need the old fashion Delis from Brooklyn to open up and serve טועמיה the way it tasted in der heim.

    1. Bingo. This was my point, to much oily greasy food that costs too much. Not enough Heimesh delis with good fresh food that tastes good and doesn't leave you in bathroom after eating. And does it hurt to have good Chinese or Pizza?

    2. kosher krawler - (i live in bp) everyone can live diff. lifestyles within the parameters of shulchan aruch , and there is room for some level of fress
BUT all can agree that analyzing & debating cuts of steak..exotic dishes etc.. is alien to torah ve'avodah even on a low level. working people shvitz & are ehrlich in very tough environments , and are entitled to a good steak BUT EAT IT , move on just dont dwell.. as chassidish seforim say that where your mind is thats where you are-

    3. Food is expensive because the commercial rent in Lakewood is too damn high.

    4. Anon 11:49,

The food in the city costs even more than in Lakewood. Who are you trying to fool?

I give no consideration to the kosher krawler guy. He’s trying to make money off bringing unneeded fress-aray business to town. So of course he’s gotta knock the locals. He belongs in places like Teaneck.

Why would anyone real pay him any attention?

  15. What the food critic was saying
Is that in order to get decent or good food in Lakewood you need to go to one of the Five star fancy expensive waiter sit down ,Linen Restaurants and spend at least $60 a person

All the other regular fast food and take out restaurants which in other places like Brooklyn would serve some appetizing and tasty basic food
In Lakewood it is Medicore at best
However most times they are basically inedible
It needs to be thrown straight in the Garbage

    1. I don't know this food critic fellow but I have to disagree. I buy food in Lakewood takeouts pretty often. When I went to Brooklyn the food there couldn't compare to Lakewood takeout.
      Lakewood takes the cake.

    2. I totally disagree with this so-called food critic. He himself deserves strong criticism for falsely kvetching about Lakewood’s restaurants. There are so many places in town which serve both milchigs and fleishigs and the food tastes awesome.

Of course there’s a few which could use improvement, but there’s many more in NYC which are subpar.

Let’s not even start with the horror stories about the rats, cockroaches, and other vermin involved in the food preparation process at those “upper scale” establishments in the city. I’m fine with the delicious bug-free food we get in Lakewood.
