- Toms River will allow shuls on 2 acre properties: Last night The council approved zoning reducing the minimum acreage for a house of worship to 2 acres from 10 acres, rolling back the town's zoning ordinance to what it had been prior to a change in 2017 after a lawsuit with the justice dept. It will be allowed in 9 areas of town including northern and western areas of Toms River. Houses of worship are again a permitted use in the more rural areas of town.see more at Patch
