Gender Bender But The Siddur Stays the Same

There was drama in Israel last week, it was a לילה לבן in the knesset - a time to filibuster. Everyone stayed up all night to stymie passage of a bill. In the morning MK Pindrus of UTJ recited birchas hashachar from the podium as others responded Amen,

All went well until he said baruch ata hashem....  shelo asani isha. A MK from the Meretz party went bananas.
Standing in the aisle, she called him out waving her hands and arms to and fro (about the Frau).
It seems as if she was auditioning to replace Zubin Mehta of the Israeli philharmonic.

MK Pindrus Recites Birchas Hashachar

There was plenty comic relief to savor but here's the talking point:  Someone  seized the moment, a bracha was recited that encapsulates our mission in this world, that the Borei gave men 613 mitzvos while exempting nashim from many, because of time constraints that enjoin them to care for their family - which is genuine ratzon elyon. To make this statement in Herzl's stronghold for all to hear, is noteworthy and meaningful.

Benet's cancel culture coalition has a silver lining to it , it brings out the best from the other side of the aisle to push back and state the truth about our nation the am Hashem.

    Certainly, Herzl would probably agree.

  2. Cute spin but there is little positive

A few short years ago even a member of Meretz wouldn't make this challenge or they would be all but ignored with no one bothering to respond

  3. You missed the issue totally.
The Meretznikah was protesting making birchas haShashar without sleeping.
She was motioning that she slept thought it all and only she can be “moitzee” all with the Brachas.
Deh “doos” has Nebach been hanging around the agudistin and mizrachisti long enough to pick up some halachas. Now she is using it against them.

  4. Why should we care if a meretzniker makes a stink?
We just need to move forward
