Gridlock Alert James street to Shiut Again with Mid week construction

LPD alert Beginning Wednesday at 7am, James St will be shut between Williams and Sunset for construction with no access. Expected to reopen Saturday. The construction is for the traffic light that will be installed at the Williams James intersection. Township officials did not explain why this can not be done over the weekend or at night instead of during the day that inconveniences the residents and causes serious backups on Route 9 Prospect Central ave.  The township committee ignored what happened last week without even acknowledging the traffic that shut down the morning camp commute.

Last week the construction and road closure on James street shut down a main artery in Lakewood causing gridlock and traffic back ups that resulted in people sitting for hours in traffic coming late to work and camp losing money and putting people in bad moods. Now again the road is shut for 3 days even though it is bein hazmanim the town is full of people and there is no reason given why it can not be done over the weekend.

  1. It's time for a ballot measure/question by the residents making it illigal to do any type of work that disrupts traffic unless done btwn 6pm and 7am including emergency repaird

    1. They KNOW they will get voted right back in as everyone is afraid to be seen as opposing them.
Look at what happened when some neighbors were against a building application that affected them - they were called into their school owners office and threatened!

  3. Yes and look at what happened when some people were opposed to a huge shul in middle of a busy street in WG. They were called nazis, mushchasim, mizera amalek… etc.

  4. We have NEVER had a viable candidate against the establishment. Only extremists and negative people. NEVER people with an actual vision beyond 'stop the building'. That is why they could not build the coalitions necessary to win.

  5. Why don't you call the Federal agency that runs the railroad tracks. They shut it down last week and were not willing to work on the weekends.

  6. “Actual vision beyond stop the building”
Well it’s hard to see beyond that as that is the most important thing that needs to happen ASAP. There ain’t that much more that you need a vision for.
