 - 7 new covid cases in Lakewood  totals 13818/311

-Israel on Friday registered 1,263 new daily COVID-19 cases, although the number of patients in serious condition remained low at 81 with 23 of those listed as critical and 17 people on respirators, according to Health Ministry data.

- White House aides are discussing whether they should urge vaccinated Americans to wear masks in additional settings, as the delta variant spreads.

- LPD:  Frederick Gillette, 58, was hit shortly before 12:30 a.m., Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said. Gillette died at the scene after suffering significant traumatic injuries, he said. 
Gillette was crossing Route 9 at John Street when he was hit by a 2003 GMC Yukon that was northbound on the road, Staffordsmith said. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators

- Pedestrian in a wheelchair fatally struck last night on route 9 in front of 7 Eleven by John street in Lakewood. Misaskim services not needed

 - Students, teachers, and staff in Chicago Public Schools will be required to wear masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, when they return to classrooms in August.

- Lakewood School district served a total of 5,372,782 kosher meals and  1,896,951 non kosher meals since the pandemic began in March 2021   

 

- R Aron Lang: State is shifting all expenses to the local taxpayer under the guise of the loan statute.  Law says our local share is  $120 million but this year we pay over $180 million with the incumbrance of latest loan. The loans cannot be forgiven by the governor or commissioner.

- This was posted by the Lakewood school district BOE meeting. However LNN reports it does not mean boxes will continue in the fall

"Lakewood School District will switch to the Seamless Summer Option  as per the Department of Agriculture, and at no cost to the District. The Lakewood School District will continue to provide drive through service during the 2021- 2022 school year. Children 0-5 will also be eligible to receive food".
