-BDE: Double Tragedy in South Bend Indiana: Chana Malka Zweig, 21, and her brother Yosef Yehuda Zweig, 18,  A"H were tragically niftar after a boating accident on Lake Michigan. The children of R' Yehoshua and Hadassah Zweig, they are grandchildren of Rav Yochanan Zweig, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva V'Kollel Beis Moshe Chaim in Miami Beach. - Trump: Make Daylight Savings permanent.

"For many years, the vast Majority of Americans have asked to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, but no Administration has been able to get it done, until now. I am proud to announce that the House of Representatives has passed the Bill, and it has now gone to the Senate for final approval. People are sick and tired of having to change their clocks twice a year. It is foolish, inconvenient and, in some cases, very costly. For Cities and States with Watchtowers, and hard to reach places, it costs Millions of Dollars. A recent case was made that it is also bad for your health in the anxiety it creates. Leading Medical, Crime, and Economic Studies have shown that ceasing the biannual time change, giving us one extra hour of natural sunlight in the evenings, will help Decrease Robbery and Murder Rates, Reduce Car Accidents (especially those involving Pedestrians!), Lower Risk for Cardiac Issues, Stroke, and Seasonal Depression, Make It Safer for Children to Walk Home from School, Increase Time with your Family, Strongly Support Extracurricular Activities, Boost the Sports, Fitness, Tourism, Retail, and Restaurant Industries (and more!), and Save Money on Energy Bills, because everyone will be enjoying an EXTRA HOUR OF DAYLIGHT. In other words, leave it as it is now, and never change again. This is an issue that Republicans, Democrats, and Independents can unite behind. I am asking Republican Senators to release their holds, and allow the hotline to clear on the Republican side. LET’S PASS THE SUNSHINE PROTECTION ACT, ASAP. - Giyus: Satmar philanthropist R' Yoel Landau recently visited the Gur Rebbe in Yerushalayim where he pledged to establish a $1 million fund to support the fight against the gezeiras giyus. He also contributed a substantial sum toward two new community simcha halls in  Yerushalayim and Arad.

- Daylight Saving Time: Agudath Israel representatives met with more than 20 Senate offices in Washington to oppose making Daylight Saving Time permanent, citing concerns about children traveling to school in darkness and difficulties for Orthodox Jews with early morning Shacharis and minyan attendance. Senators indicated they are reviewing the issue and considering constituent concerns.

- Moadim L’Simcha now taking orders for Succos 2026 Lakewood order deadline is August 17, 2026.

- Lakewood Shuttle: At yesterday’s LDC meeting, several residents urged the township to improve shuttle services, including adding GPS tracking for arrival times and providing printed schedules. The township website still lists a 2003 schedule : With many teenagers home for the summer, shuttle routes and schedules primarily serve the south heimish section of Lakewood, while many residents remain unaware of available schedules and there is limited access to senior developments.

- A Jewish family visiting Zoom Flume Water Park in E Durham, NY said they were confronted by staff over bringing kosher food into the park, despite claiming they had previously been told it was allowed. They said staff announced over the radio that “no kosher food [was] allowed,” and raised concerns about discrimination and the lack of allergy-friendly food options. - Jackson: Authorities are investigating a hate-motivated vandalism incident after several suspects broke into the former Christa McAuliffe Middle School, recently purchased by BMG, and left behind swastikas, Nazi imagery, and racial slurs. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and investigating the latest in a series of reported antisemitic incidents targeting Jewish properties in the area.The incident follows other recent antisemitic acts targeting Jewish properties and last week's swastika vandalism at a shul in Lakewood. - Lawrence, NY: A two-alarm fire destroyed the popular kosher restaurant Jerusalem Pizza (J2) and a neighboring vacant storefront early Tuesday morning. About 150 firefighters responded, no injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.

- SNAP: More than 4 million Americans have already left the federal food stamp program as President Trump's overhaul of SNAP begins taking effect, according to preliminary U.S. Department of Agriculture figures.

- COVID-19: Former White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said he now believes the pandemic most likely began with an accidental lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, marking a shift from his earlier position.

- Kosher meat Supply: Following the AgriStar plant fire, OU Kosher CEO Rabbi Moshe Elefant warned that kosher beef and chicken supplies will tighten, leading to reduced availability. The OU is working with suppliers to increase production elsewhere and is urging consumers to verify kosher certification and package integrity.

- The Knesset Finance Committee approved more than 267 million shekels ($88 million) in coalition funds for the Charedi education system, including transportation, teacher training, cultural programs, and funding to prevent yeshiva dropouts. Critics called the allocations improper during the legislative recess.

- The Senate Judiciary Committee advances Todd Blanche's nomination for Attorney General.

After reaching an agreement with the administration, Republican Sens. Thom Tillis and John Cornyn who had previously withheld their support — voted to advance Blanche's nomination along party lines. The full Senate is expected to vote on his confirmation in the coming days.
