"The decree of drafting yeshiva bochurim into the army is hanging over the heads of the Bnei Yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel. They have intensified their persecution against those who devote themselves to Torah the pillars of the world—and seek to uproot Torah learning from the Bnei HaYeshivos and Kollelim. They are trying in every possible way to draft them into the army.
"The Bnei Torah in Eretz Yisroel are presently facing a very difficult situation, both b’ruchniyus and b’gashmiyus. The honor of Torah has been brought down to the dust, and we, the Bnei Torah who are moser nefesh for the honor of Torah, how can we remain silent at such a time? Therefore, we are calling upon every kehillah and every community to gather together to daven, to arrange Tehillim minyanim, and to pour out our hearts and plead before Avinu Shebashamayim, until He has mercy upon us and abolishes the gezeirah of drafting from upon the Bnei HaYeshivos.'

- Lakewood township may cut trash removal services from schools and shuls.
Mayor Coles says in an article this weeks Lakewood Shopper, “We have to come up with money to cover the services that we are legally obligated to provide. We also really want to have money for expenses that we aren’t legally obligated to provide, such as the grant we give to the LSTA, but we cannot do that at this time.”
He adds that there are other non-obligated expenses that may have to be cut as well. One example is the township trash removal service provided free of charge to schools and shuls. While the township is not legally obligated to provide this service, they have always done so. This currently costs about $3.5 million a year. If no source of relief is found, this may be cut out of the budget as well

The Satmar Rebbe Rav Aaron addressed his talmidim at a tish on Motzaei Shabbos in Kiryas Yoel regarding the invitation he received from the White House to meet with President Donald Trump this Thursday. The Rebbe explained that he initially considered postponing the meeting because it is Elul and preparing for the Yomim Noraim. He emphasized that, in his view, the Torah learning of the talmidim in yeshivah is more important than the political meeting.
Nevertheless, he ultimately decided to accept the invitation after remembering a similar meeting approximately 30 years ago, through which it was possible to help a Yid who was in distress. The Rebbe noted that there are Yidden today who also need assistance, including regarding the issue of the draft of bnei yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel. At the end, the Rebbe asked the bochurim not to focus too much on the meeting, but rather to continue with their seder and remain focused on their Torah learning.

Since when does the township have to legally provide garbage pickup for anyone? or bulk pickup 12x a year? We always seem to be hiring more police officers anyone know how many we got? Do we need 2 officers at every traffic stop? or 5 at every mva? Does the police dept. really need to only purchase the expensive SUVs? It snows a couple of times a year at most.. The township committee went virtual maybe we can cut their salaries and healthcare? Instead of the new copycat org why not have the Volunteers join the fire dept? What happened to our volunteer dept? They blame the snow removal costs which was a disaster in some areas. They definitely can use help hiring and oversight of the contractors. Seems like they give them specific roads some of them dont need to get plowed due to all the cars that traverse the roads but they keep on plowing the black top while other contractors are overwhelmed with their snow covered streets!
ReplyDeleteHad I been running the township I would discontinue the garbage pickup for shuls and schools before the change in bussing.
Deletesince when does the board of ed have to provide eautiful football fields?
Deleteextracurricullar courses and sports?
how many students graduate within four years? five years? never graduate?
how many drop out?
how many go on to ful fledged colleges, not two year schools?
what is average SAT scores?
how about publishing these figures!
strand theater, a few million dollars
maybe the board of ed shouldnt provide busses for its students, even more than a mile or two?
Anyone know why schools put on their supply list a 100 page spiral notebook - for the last 30 years the 70 page was always a doorbuster type of sale - remember the .17? even now they go on sale for like .35 -.50? the 100 page one is like 4 times the price !
ReplyDeleteJust buy the smaller ones. From experience they don't use all the pages anyway.
DeleteI just got my daughter two 70 page ones. If the teacher complains I will let them know that "es iz a shud yidishe gelt".
DeleteMoras have the craziest lists. many never had kids in school yet and don't realize that their "requirements" of non-standard items causes parents so much agmas nefesh. Schools should provide a list of items that teacher MUST choose from. Standard stuff that staples and walmart always have on sale, not the 10 section notebook that costs $25 and only available online.
DeleteThe township blames everyone else while they give themselves yearly raises and spend our tax money like water.
ReplyDeleteThey keep hiring more to keep up with new development that is not affordable for Lakewood residents and their children.
Time for a full accounting of this township and their tax increases and abatement to the well connected influential
Agree that township employees should reverse raises received in the past three years.
DeleteCrazy tzionim-
ReplyDeletecharieid soldiers have huge ahavas yisrael, but-just as achan-one man- condemned us to failure by Ai, the overwhelming chiloni majority involved in the most horrible documented immorality chases away the shechina
no chance, they'll stagger around gaza and lebanon accomplishing diddly squat and being blown to peices-poor things
no tefillos can help sadly-Hashem already said He won't come if the army has immorality for those who spaced in two weeks ago by krias hatorah

Read the annual knesset report on the non-consensual stuff
Deleteno organization in the world, not academic, military, or educational, has such a rotten record of scandals only a twisted zionist mind can imagine up
for instance, the two prisons where the female guards simply couldn't keep their pants up. Knesset says they need stronger support system but chalila to remove women-meaning, don't fix the bridge of chelm, build a hospital
remember Hashem split His Nmae hei-yud to testify our yichus was still good even though they enslaved us?
We have them in chains and still can't control oursleves
any sane human would say these guards should hang
not written with glee, this is written in tears
nebach!
the international headlines about the idf make you blush to be a jew
how you advance in rank- you can offer yourself or spouse, whoever is the female.
and for what purpose-how many girls out of a 1000 died in gaza, for an army 1/3 women? zero. as a matter of policy, they don't ever use woman in combat
He has a point-
DeleteHashem asks for nothing in order to be with the army-not Shabbos, not Torah learning, not tzitzis.
Just to refrain from one thing-immorality
This is not a Chazal, but a possuk
otherwise-open your eyes and look what happened here
every threat is even greater than 3 years ago, besides for Syria which had no shaychus to Israel's doing
assassinations do nothing in the long -or short-run
Sorry but it is about time the townhips canncels garbage pickup for shuls and schools. when there were one or two schoold and a few shuls then no big deal. but now $3.5 million the taxpayers are paying for non taxpayers shuls and schools will support this move. Seems like the good times for all is coming to an end.
ReplyDeleteNext big question is will the state continue to lend millions to the BOE (taxpayers)?? Stay tuned.
Also the new jobs that were created which happened to have been given to family members the registrar and HR positions
ReplyDeleteWhere is all the money going
ReplyDeleteThe township needs to be held accountable for its spending and fiscal decisions.
The township reportedly spent approximately $2.5 million on the bank property on Route 88, only to later transfer or flip it for business use while receiving a small lot that may not even be buildable, supposedly for downtown parking that appears to be underused.
The township spent approximately $500,000 on a clean team for Clifton Avenue besides for DPW
Approximately $300,000 was planned on a shuttle-bus liaison, despite buses reportedly running largely empty.
The township has granted tax abatements worth millions of dollars potentially approaching $100 milliion raising serious questions about who benefits from these deals and whether taxpayers are receiving an adequate return.
At the same time, residents have faced property-tax increases of more than $500 per year in consecutive years.
Residents deserve transparency, accountability, and responsible management of their tax dollars. When spending continues to increase while taxpayers are repeatedly asked to pay more, township officials should be prepared to explain these decisions and demonstrate that they are acting in the best interests of residents.
If they cannot do that, then it is time for them to resign and allow fiscally responsible leadership to take over.
Any statements from Governor Mikie about the death of a lakewood infant by an illegal alien??

DeleteI trully hope that the rebbes ensure Trump pressures the Zionists to stop the shmad in the olam hatorah, better he make Huckabee prime minister like he did in Venezuela then the shmad government, we cannot live under the 78 year shmad
ReplyDeleteShmad, yes. But it's very different than what your community prefers to imagine.
DeleteFor you it's just a term to be left alone
Many congregants of the shuls and students of the schools are from neighboring towns, so it might make sense that the township should not cover the garbage being used by non taxpayers..
