- In a letter to eight U.S. airlines, New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone, the ranking member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is requesting information on whether they’re using consumers’ personal data, also known as “surveillance pricing,” to set ticket prices. Pallone’s move comes just weeks after New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill signed a pair of bills banning grocery stores from applying surveillance pricing on groceries and prohibiting landlords from using rent-setting algorithms.

- The Trump administration has proposed sweeping changes to Head Start that would make many of the preschool programs’ supports for families optional and bring big changes to New Jersey’s 191 preschool centers. Advocates say the changes could greatly diminish services for the roughly 12,400 New Jersey children, from birth through age 5, enrolled in Head Start programs. The Trump administration’s proposed reforms include sweeping new rules about how Head Start money can be spent — including reducing the funding that can be used for the administration of programs from 15% to 5%.
