BDE: Petirah of Rebbetzin Esther Paler a”h, wife of Rav Binyomin Paler zt”l, longtime rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Mekor Chaim she was nifter in Lakewood at the age of 99.
She was the daughter of Rav Shmuel Ehrenfeld zt”l, the Mattersdorfer Rov, and devoted her life to supporting her husband’s Torah leadership and raising a distinguished Torah family. Rav Binyomin, a close talmid of the Brisker Rov, survived the Holocaust after fleeing with the Mirrer Yeshiva to Shanghai and later founded Yeshiva Mekor Chaim in 1965.
After nearly 50 years in Brooklyn, the yeshiva moved to Lakewood in 2012. Rebbetzin Paler also suffered the tragic loss of her son, Rav Yitzchok Paler zt”l, in 2020.
She is survived by her children, including Rav Simcha Bunim Paler shlita and Rav Zechariah Paler shlita, roshei yeshiva of Mekor Chaim, as well as Rebbetzin Olshin wife of Rav Shmuel Abba Olshin Shlita R"Y Eitz Chaim Hillside, NJ and Rebbetzin Horowit wife of Rav Shmuel Simcha Horowitz shlita R"Y Emek Hatalmud, Brooklyn,p grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levayah is today 10:30am at Yeshiva Mekor Chaim, 160 Locust Street, Lakewood.
