Iran Israel News Updates Monday August 10

- Report: Trump Secretly Flown Amid Iranian Threat as Air Force 1 Served as Decoy: The Washington Post reported that an unusual deception operation was carried out last month after a warning of an Iranian threat against U.S. President Donald Trump or his aircraft during travel from Turkey to Britain. Trump publicly boarded Air Force 1 but secretly exited via a catering truck and transferred to another military aircraft, while Air Force 1 departed without him carrying journalists and White House staff as a decoy.

- Trump announces the U.S. will seek compensation from Iran for Americans harmed by Iran & its proxies.

Trump: I see that Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran are asking for compensation for the damage done to them during the last five month Military Conflict (started because, THEY WILL NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON), even though it was never mentioned in any of our negotiations or meetings! But it is an interesting idea because now I am likewise demanding compensation from Iran, for all of the people that they have killed and gravely wounded with their roadside bombs and many conflicts, for which they are famous, as led initially by General Soleimani, including the families of those killed on the USS Cole, and thousands of others killed in combat. Additionally, compensation should be paid to the families of the hundreds of thousands of innocent protestors that Iran has killed over the last 50 years, not to mention the 52,000 that have been killed in the last five months. I have instructed my representatives to put this firmly into any, and all, future negotiations. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

- Officials in one Middle Eastern country advised another regional state to pursue an agreement with Israel as a tactical move while preparing for a broader future confrontation, Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. According to the report, the officials suggested reaching an agreement in order to lower Israel’s guard, with the intention of violating it later as preparations for war continued. Kan said military censorship prevented it from identifying the countries involved.

- President Trump told Axios the U.S. is only "semi-negotiating" with Iran and signaled he would allow economic pressure to pile on Tehran. Iran set out new demands for reopening the Strait of Hormuz that include compensating Iran for war damage.

- Senior Israeli official - There is no way we will agree to Qatar and Turkey monitoring our conduct in the Gaza Strip.

 - Iranian TV: "The Strait of Hormuz will not be opened following a decision or tweet by the US President. The management and control of this waterway is in the hands of Iran, and any party that tries to bypass this will be considered a legitimate target

- Iran attacked a tanker last night as it passed through the southern Omani waterway, where the US is escorting vessels. The tanker is on fire

- Tehran says Iranians have shown “they are professional chess players” in response to remarks by US President Donald Trump comparing his dealings with Iran to the board game. Trump yesterday signaled he was prepared to let economic pressure mount against Iran, apparently backing away from more military strikes after Tehran issued a list of demands for opening the Strait of Hormuz. “Lights out or lights on, Iranians showed they are professional chess players,” Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei says.

- The commander of an Israeli-backed militia fighting Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip, tells The Times of Israel that Israel should reject the implementation of the second-stage ceasefire agreement, because Hamas will never hand over its weapons.“Hamas knows that if it hands over its weapons, it will no longer be in power.”
