- From Agudah chairman's take: Rabbi Sherer was a visionary, and the final message of his life is evidence. In the notes he prepared for the speech he planned to give at the Agudah dinner in May,1998, he mentioned a news item: a New York sports team was planning to build a massive new stadium. Others saw the same tidbit, but Rabbi Sherer clipped it, because, he wrote, "with Hashem's help, that stadium will serve us well when it hosts the Siyum HaShas." He was niftar several hours before that dinner, but the vision was realized. This week, we had yet another planning meeting for the upcoming Siyum HaShas, this one scheduled- with Hashem's help- for precisely two years from now, Rosh Chodesh Sivan 2027.

- Yom HaMeyuchas - The Second Day of Sivan And Its Special Yichus. No Tachnun is said
The second day of Sivan is called Yom HaMeyuchas. The Taamei HaMinhagim brings a number of reasons for this. This is the day that Hashem told Bnei Yisroel "V'Atem Tihiyu Li Mamleches Kohanim", you will be to me a kingdom of Kohanim (Yisro 19:6). This is the day we received our special Yichus setting us apart from the rest of the nations.Another explanation he brings is that according to the Yalkut, when the other nations questioned why Bnei Yisroel received the Torah, Hashem told them to bring their Sefer Yuchasim, to see if their pedigree stands up to the level of Bnei Yisroel's whose forefather's included Avrohom, Yitzchok, and Yaakov.
Rav Shlomo Kluger says in HaElef Licha Shlomo (also brought in Taamei HaMinhagim) that since this day is between two special days it also is considered special. The day before is Rosh Chodesh and the day after starts the Shloshes Yimei Hagbala, the final preparation for Kabalas HaTorah.

- Israel Hayom: The Prime Minister's office avoids confirming where things stand. One of the reasons for this is a very critical issue that has not yet been finally agreed upon, and that is whether the US and Israel will agree to give up the food distribution centers as part of the deal with Hams. In other words, during the two-month truce, humanitarian aid will return to the previous format, which played into Hams' hands. - New York Times: Even after meeting with Trump in April - Netanyahu ordered the Israeli security apparatus to prepare for a military attack on Iran. According to the report, Netanyahu and Trump had a tense phone call in recent days, and the prime minister threatened to sabotage the talks by attacking Iran's nuclear facilities.
The US fears that Israel could launch an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities within 7 hours (from the moment it decides to do so) - which would allow only a short window of time to try to stop the move. Israel is concerned that Trump is so eager to reach an agreement with Iran - that he would agree to an agreement that would allow Iran to continue enriching uranium.

- Trump: I was extremely satisfied with the 50% Tariff allotment on the European Union, especially since they were "slow walking (to put it mildly!), our negotiations with them. Remember, I am empowered to "SET A DEAL" for Trade into the United States if we are unable to make a deal, or are treated unfairly. I have just been informed that the E.U. has called to quickly establish meeting dates. This is a positive event, and I hope that they will, FINALLY, like my same demand to China, open up the European Nations for Trade with the United States of America. They will BOTH be very happy, and successful, if they do!!
Why we say tefilas hashlah erev Rosh cbodesh sivan
Letter from Rav Dov Landau Shlita Ahead of Shavuos Amid Gezeiras Giyus
Letter from Rav Dov Landau Shlita Ahead of Shavuos.
Rav Dov Landau Shlita has issued a heartfelt letter offering chizuk to yeshiva bochurim and kollel yungeleit in the days leading up to the Yom Tov of Shavuos. Amid growing instability and the looming threat of a draft, Rav Landau urges the Torah community to strengthen one another and their families, emphasizing that our primary tafkid (mission) is Torah learningthe very foundation upon which the world was created.
In the letter, he alludes to the potential for the chareidi political parties to leave the governing coalition if the Giyus (draft) law is not enacted in a way that protects Torah learners. He warns that Israeli authorities are openly plotting to recruit Torah scholars into the army, and if they attempt to do so by force, the Torah community will not remain silent. “If, God forbid, they recruit by force, we will not be able to stand by. We will be forced to take actions we do not wish to take, and we will stand together to defend each and every individual so that, God forbid, they are not drafted.”

-New Jersey would lose upwards of $3.6 billion a year in federal Medicaid funding, and more than 300,000 residents would risk losing their health insurance under a bill narrowly approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22, analysts said
The bill includes work requirements for Medicaid applicants, eliminates tax credits that made insurance more affordable, and reduces federal matching funds for covering undocumented immigrants. Supporters say the bill protects Medicaid
- Trump: The European Union, which was formed for the primary purpose of taking advantage of the United States on TRADE, has been very difficult to deal with. Their powerful Trade Barriers, Vat Taxes, ridiculous Corporate Penalties, Non-Monetary Trade Barriers, Monetary Manipulations, unfair and unjustified lawsuits against Americans Companies, and more, have led to a Trade Deficit with the U.S. of more than $250,000,000 a year, a number which is totally unacceptable. Our discussions with them are going nowhere! Therefore, I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025. There is no Tariff if the product is built or manufactured in the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

- Chuck schumer responds to Trump banning international students from Harvard. "It is an egregious abuse of power by Trump to punish Harvard. It is a vendetta with no basis in fact or law, and it harms innocent student victims.
This is what authoritarians do to bully and intimidate those who resist their power and freely express their opinions and right to educate according to standards of excellence and inclusion."
- A major development in Yerushalayim has left the chareidi community shaken: A kollel yungerman, a father of ten young children, has been held in Shin Bet custody for over two days on suspicion of endangering state security—without legal representation and without being informed of the specific charges against him.
According to close family members, who spoke to Kikar HaShabbat, the avreich, who runs a Torah hotline called “Sod HaChashmal,” was arrested at his home by Shin Bet agents two days ago. He has since been held in a detention facility and subjected to continuous interrogation.(Matzav)

- SCOTUS: Creation of nation's first religious charter school blocked
A divided Supreme Court on Thursday blocked the creation of the nation's first religious charter school, a major case about the separation of church and state.

- Trump: “THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL” has PASSED the House of Representatives! This is arguably the most significant piece of Legislation that will ever be signed in the History of our Country! The Bill includes MASSIVE Tax CUTS, No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, Tax Deductions when you purchase an American Made Vehicle, along with strong Border Security measures, Pay Raises for our ICE and Border Patrol Agents, Funding for the Golden Dome, “TRUMP Savings Accounts” for newborn babies, and much more! Great job by Speaker Mike Johnson, and the House Leadership, and thank you to every Republican who voted YES on this Historic Bill! Now, it’s time for our friends in the United States Senate to get to work, and send this Bill to my desk AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! There is no time to waste. The Democrats have lost control of themselves, and are aimlessly wandering around, showing no confidence, grit, or determination. They have forgotten their landslide loss in the Presidential Election, and are warped in the past, hoping someday to revive Open Borders for the World’s criminals to be able to pour into our Country, men to be able to play in women’s sports, and transgender for everybody. They don’t realize that these things, and so many more like them, will NEVER AGAIN happen!
- Adirei HaTorah update: The ma’amad will feature inspiring words from rabbonim representing different parts of the lakewood community, highlighting how the partnership between working families and yungeleit has strengthened the entire community. Special emphasis will be placed on how this partnership has enhanced family life, chinuch habonim, and the overall ruach of Lakewood’s kehillos.
The Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Malkiel emphasized that the upcoming ma’amad represents more than just an organizational milestone—it embodies a kiddush Hashem that strengthens the very foundations of our community.
The Rosh HaYeshiva shared how the Adirei HaTorah initiative has begun to resonate far beyond Lakewood, spreading to frum communities worldwide. “What began here in Lakewood has become a model for communities across the globe,” the Rosh HaYeshiva explained. “Just last month, I was invited to address an event in Mexico City called ‘Amudei HaOlam,’ which was directly inspired by our Ma’amad Adirei HaTorah.” He recounted how several members of the Mexican kehilla had attended last year’s Ma’amad Adirei HaTorah in Wells Fargo and left so deeply inspired that they decided to create a similar framework in their own community. “They told me how seeing the partnership between ba’alei battim and kollel yungeleit in Lakewood opened their eyes to what was possible in their own kehilla,” the Rosh HaYeshiva said.
