  1. Does anyone remember that Nj promised food stamps benefits to all those who are eligible for free lunches? Even those who don’t usually receive SNAP were supposed to receive a card in the mail. What happened with that?

    1. They said that the special "p-ebt" should arrive by the end of June. You need to pay attention to the entire statement.

  3. The rent fund is a good idea, but I doubt it was created to help the renters.. if it was it wouldn't cover residents with no legal immigration status. It seems like this has been put together by the real estate owner's to try to recoup their rent.....

  4. Its not food stamp benefits . It's a fixed amount of around 400 for every student that is eligible for free lunch . Its probably federal money being admi inistered by the State. I imagine it will come sometime in the next month .

  9. When is BMG going to give out the student stimulus they received from the government?

    1. Most eligible students already received some

    2. That's incorrect. Most eligible students did NOT receive their BMG stimulus money.

    3. I didn’t get anything. What does eligible mean?

      Delete
    4. Does "eligible" mean that you're related? Does "eligible" mean that you had to pay 100 dollars for a pesach box you did not need because you've already made pesach a few years, but still need financial help? Does "eligible" mean that you decided to assume responsibilities of a BMG staff member by becoming a rosh chaburah?

Why wouldn't a regular talmid who is un-related, did not take the pesach box, and wants to continue learning without the extra burdens of a rosh chaburah (on top of everything else going on at home with the kids) also qualify to be "eligible"??

What happened to the Covid-19 educational grant dollars intended for ALL the talmidim? Who is running the Selektzia??

  11. Eligible as defined by the department of education. Most talmidim don't qualify.

    1. You’re full of baloni. The Department of Education specifically gave over the discretion to each college to distribute the money to its students in the manner it deems fair. Stop trying to blame someone other than the Administration of BMG for not distributing the money in a fair manner to its students. The government is relying on them to take care of their hard-pressed students and play games..

  12. Students did not receive the money that should be going to help them.. BMG received $6,000,000 and it should have been given out by now. Yungerleit have not received it. Talmidim have not received it. It specifically is for hardships from covid 19. If someone can please post the news release from the senators office. $6,000,000 to BMG and noone received it….

  13. Booker, Menendez Announce $323M in COVID-19 Emergency Funding to Support NJ Colleges, Students
Half the funding released after NJ lawmakers pushed Dept. of Ed. to release funds ASAP
    April 23, 2020
NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced the awarding of $323,080,779 from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), with half being promptly released to support New Jersey’s students and institutions of higher education that are suffering tremendous losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The federal funding comes from the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which allocated approximately $14 billion to help colleges and universities across the country mitigate their financial losses and help students and their families struggling because of the economic downturn caused by the outbreak.
“The coronavirus pandemic has touched nearly every aspect of New Jerseyans lives, from our health to our jobs to our colleges and universities,” said Sen. Booker. “I fought alongside Senator Menendez to ensure the economic hardships being experienced by students and our institutions of higher education are addressed so they receive the help they desperately need. This federal funding is a critical first step in supporting New Jersey’s colleges and universities, students, staff, faculty, and researchers battling this ongoing crisis.”
“Now more than ever, students and their families across New Jersey need our help weathering the economic storm caused by COVID-19,” said Sen. Menendez. “This funding will ensure students receive the assistance they need and that our colleges and universities can continue operating during this crisis. As Congress works on another stimulus package, I’ll continue fighting for the resources our students and institutions need to fully recover from these troubling times.”
Earlier this week, Sen. Menendez led the state’s entire congressional delegation in calling on Education Secretary Betsy DeVos to expedite the delivery of the emergency COVID-19 funding. New Jersey has the second highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the nation, with over 58,000 cases and nearly 2,200 deaths.
New Jersey’s public two- and four-year colleges and universities were awarded a combined $238,113,748. Other institutions of higher learning receiving funding include private four-year colleges, technical and trade schools, and seminaries.
Each institution is required to distribute half of their award—the portion being released first—directly to students by providing emergency financial aid grants to help cover costs associated with the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19, including course materials, food, health care, technology, housing, and other eligible costs.

Below is a full, alphabetical listing of the institutions receiving funding and their total approximate award amount:
Beth Medrash Govoha of America - $5,899,593
    Lakewood, Ocean County

FOR STUDENTS... so how come nobody has received it.. Can someone reach out to BMG and report on this?

    1. Get your facts straight. BMG has not yet received the money. They still have started to distribute CARES grant money to eligible talmidim. Many received some on erev shabbos. A talmid must be eligible as defined by the department of education. Many talmidim are not eligible. Sorry.

    2. We have our facts straight. You are the one obfuscating and evading. The reason BMG received the large amount they did is due to the size of the student body. Every one of those students that was included in that pool should be "eligible" for the grant money. Your vague reference to the "department of education" as you call them, did not disqualify any students. If there were indeed any "disqualifications", it was on the part of someone in BMG that is running the "Selektzia."
