Drink 20 minutes before eating and after meals, don't drink until the food is digested in order not to dilute the acids that digest the food. The food should be chewed well before swallowing in order for the body to digest it and not have it sit in the stomach. 1. Tell Governor Murphy to stay out of town rather than come back to Jersey and make trouble. Knucklehead.

There is no seudah mafseket this year. (Though that is only somewhat a litvish minhag, not universal.)
And doubtful you can "prepare" by extra drinking. (Though extra Scotch or Bourbon is not advisable.)

Which brings up the question of tzom pills on shabbat.

    2. Litvish custom? Like the rest of Shulchan Aruch?

    3. Who does seudah mafseket these days? (Yes, some few rebbes, but not their chasidim)
For that matter, who fasts on a yartzeit? Who fasts on BeHaV? (I was at a levayah a few years ago, where the Rav said the nifteret would fast on BeHaV; this particular shul said the mi sheberach for BeHaV.)

    4. Idk what you are talking about. I have never heard of someone not eating seudas hamafsekes(t). We dip an egg in ashes, and afaik camps also do it.

No clue what Rebbes or chassidim do, neither do I particularly care.

      Shulchan Aruch wasn't canceled.

    1. or maybe we don't need a police chief at all, seeing how well the department is running without one

  3. Why is there a need to raise money to help the Keren Hatzolah activities. The israeli bochrim and yungeleit should just sit and learn and the Torah will protect them.

    1. Huh? What are you smoking?
If I was living in EY now, I'd pick my family up and escape so they shouldn't have to join the IDF and become frei.

    2. You would escape because you are not a Maamin and a Baal Bitachon who truly believes that learning Torah protects.

Isn't that what we are constantly being told? That we don't join the army because its actually the Bnei Torah who are protecting the soldiers and the rest of the nation?
Or maybe, just maybe, can it be that Torah only protects from the Arabs and muslims, but it doesn't protect us from Gali Baharav-Miara and the evil zionists? Nah. Either it protects us. Or it doesn't.

    3. Profound spewing foolishness.
If we're deserving it protects us against physical enemies like for example Haman. If will never protect us against spiritual enemies like for example the yevanim or their imitators like Gali B-M. For that the more dirty elbow grease we put out there the more we reap .

  5. Although, not shown in this clip, other sites show a banner "שבכל דור ודור עומדים עלינו לכלותינו ו" I urge you to take a step back, and think rationally for a moment and decide for yourself whether that is an absolutely appalling thing to have hanging. Comparing yodden, who really have no education or understanding on yahadus and applying that statement reserved for our worst enemies. Think hard, using your own rational common sense, and decide if that is not vile.

    2. ...Comparing yodden, who really have no education or understanding on yahadus...

      You're 1,000% wrong.

Just over 100 years ago there was a vibrant Torah life in Russia. The Yevsektsiya - the 'Jewish' section of the communist party completly uprooted it. The Chofetz Chaim made it clear that they were considered Amalek. They were certainly part of the שבכל דור ודור עומדים עלינו לכלותינו. Please don't be ignorant, as the price is way too high. I'm afraid that you yourself can do better as far as understanding

    3. The people who are pushing the most for a Haredi draft are Frum Jews - including Talmidie Chachamim - from the Daati Leumi camp. Please don't compare them to our worse enemies or claim that they want to uproot Judaism.

    4. Their plan is extremely dangerous and short-sighted.
A little hyperbole is not the issue here.

    5. How do you know they want to draft bochrim to make them frei? Maybe the 40 year olds who are in miluim thought they woul be there a month or two. After 18 months, they want a break and other soldiers are neede?

    6. The people who are pushing the most for a Haredi draft are Frum Jews...

The fact that they're teaming up with the those who hate Torah Judaism in order to force Torah Jews them into the army, which has a horible attrition rate for the hesder boys, makes it clear that their rabinical and frum bonifides are sorely lacking. It was also "rabbis" who pushed for Jews to be drafted into the Russian army.

    8. 6:31 -- 100 years ago, most cities in Lita were mechallel shabbat. The Chofetz Chaim would often cry about it. The shtetlach were somewhat different.

By the way, the Chazon Ish famously met with top echelon of Yevyetsia when they visited Israel, hosted them in BB. After all, they all went to yeshiva together. (He advised them to stay in Israel for a few more days, some declined; they died in a helicopter crash a few days after returning to Moscow, Stalin intrigue).

      Delete
    9. The Chazon Ish never met with the top echelon of Yevyetsia. By the time the CI moved to Eretz Yisroel, Stalin had already disbanded and killed all the top top echelons of Yevyetsia. He allegedly met with a high ranking communist official who had once been his talmid. In the absence of the guys name being know the story is difficult to believe. The CI did have a relationship with a certain (American) anti frum Yiddish writer. There are extant letters between him and the CI even after the writer was no longer frum. But before he wrote his novels and the CI was probably unaware the guy was no longer frum.

    10. The Chazon Ish went to a yeshiva for exactly one week.

The Chazon Ish remained anonymous while he was in Europe. Only some gedolim knew who he was. It's extremely unlikely that he had a talmid.

Chaim Grade in Montreal doesn't rate in this dialogue.
If there is to be any basis to the previous, could be some surviving older yevsekim visited in the later '40s,& went back & were then eliminated

    15. How did members of the communist party get permission to travel in the 30s? As Cohen said: who invents these baloney stories or bubbe maasos. Certainly not someone who is genuine or who's opinion matters

      Delete
    16. I assume the story is made up but the version I saw printed is that the former Chaver of the CI was part of an official Soviet diplomatic visit to the state of Israel who took a detour to visit the CI .He was almost convinced by the CI to stay in EY and do teshuva. He didn't and his connecting flight back to the USSR had a plane crash that he died in. The CI said that the plane crashed so that he should die while he still has thoughts of Teshuva in his heart.

  6. Give me s break. If would not be draft 3/4 of bochurim would leave yeshiva and go to work including 9/10 of the sfardi. It is the draft that is keeping most Yidden to stay in Yeshiva rather than in the street selling drugs or going to work
