Among the new, stringent clauses that Yuli Edelstein added to the draft law:

• The exemption process for yeshiva students will begin only after the student receives an assignment to a military unit. That is, only after completing the screening process, students will be able to receive an exemption for Torah study.

• Every yeshiva student will be required to provide a fingerprint upon entering and leaving the yeshiva each day.

- New York Times: Former Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo has decided to run for Mayor of New York City in the general election against Zohran Mamdani and Eric Adams, and he is expected to announce it this week. The decision comes after he lost to Mamdani by a large margin in the Democratic primaries, but it seems he hopes that, among the general public, he will gain wider support.

NATO will be purchasing $10 BILLION in arms from the United States in a deal negotiated by President Trump, per Axios no American tax dollars will be sent to Ukraine, and Europe is finally paying US!

- Rav Dov Landau instructs Defel HaTorah MK's to resign from the government today:  With the end of the 17th of Tammuz fast, the deadline given to the government to meet its obligations, last night, Rabbi Lando, wrote in his own handwriting an instruction to the Degel HaTorah Knesset members to resign from the government today. Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch joined in signing the letter.  United Torah Judaism does not initially desire the dissolution of the government, but that the failure to meet the conclusions leaves it no other option.

- In an interview with Ami Magazine, Assemblyman Avi Schnall took a jab at those who opposed his candidacy

Q: Why was there resistance in the beginning?

A: “Whenever there is change, there is resistance. It’s always like that,” Schnall said. “In the end, we had a very nice turnout from the community. But we've learned that the people who make the most noise often have the smallest voice. Just because people make noise doesn’t mean they actually have a voice.”

Regarding the involvement of Agudath Israel in the school choice bill, Assemblyman Schnall noted that Rabbi A.D. Motzen, the national director of government affairs at Agudath Israel, was the one who wrote the bill.

- Agudath Israel published an open letter from Rabbi A.D. Motzen thanking all those who contributed to the national school choice effort dating back more than a decade. Notably absent from the letter was any mention of the Orthodox Union Advocacy Center or its involvement. In addition, only Republican lawmakers were thanked, as all Democrats voted against the bill.
