  1. This 2 weeks extra vacation time a week between school and camp and than after the summer again another week between camp and school is ridiculous and parents can't afford it or work. The system is not sustainable

    1. Sounds reasonable. Why should people be poor forever?

  3. Boys learning schedules is clearly delineated in and clearly isn't a matter of personal opinion or preference. I am just wondering who has approved letting boys off for a few days? Besides letting them run all over Lakewood without any supervision must be detrimental on so many levels.....

  4. Keep caranetta closed for good, then traffic on central will start moving, yes thats a fact!

    1. Traffic today was a breeze with caranetta closed there's no cars blocking the lanes trying to cut through and make a left turn onto the nine

    2. Did peoples schedules change due to the boys being off? Yesterday, it was a breeze driving down clifton @ 730pm and there was no Caranetta detour that contributed...

  5. The Lakewood school/camp system isn't working anymore. Most homes at least 1 parent works and alot 2 are working or in yeshiva. The girls and boys elementary and mesivta need to work together and make 1 schedule for all. Not all summer long for a few days/week here and there there are kids home. Out of town and Brooklyn and Monsey somehow have it worked out. The girls all having sleep away camp 1 month and boys the other doesn't work either. There are no counselors available to work 1st half in lakewood amd 2nd half there's an over abundance so alot of girls don't end up with jobs = kids home again doing nothing. Families spend a fortune on summer camps/day camps and still have to make arrangements all the time for the kids that are home. It's not sustainable and making school longer isn't the answer that's also not sustainable.

    1. If it has continued for years, by definition, it is sustainable.

    2. Good idea

Let the boys and girls have off time together. Then their sisters can introduce them to. their friends, they might hit it off, and no more shidduch crisis.

  7. why cant our roshei yeshiva follow the Satmar Rebbe lead?

    1. I mean this with the upmost respect for the Roshei Yeshiva. Lakewood is nothing like kriyas Yoel in anyway.

We have many yeshivas, many rabbonim, people who come from different cities and follow their rabbonim etc. Lakewood is a large, diverse population whose roots are in BMG but it’s quite obvious that BMG doesn’t control the whole city anymore.

I think they still have influence - but to do what the satmar rebbe is doing requires 100% control and the ability to enforce whatever he says.

So it’s very nice that every election time we have a “vaad” push some candidates but let’s be real a- that’s where the buck stops.

    2. I wouldn't be surprised that there are under the table shenanigans in kiryas yoel.
"Sure, I follow the takana of only charging 1500 for rent, but if you gave me 5000 I would strongly consider pushing you ahead of the line "

    3. What about all the regular people here. in Lakewood who scrapped and scraped enough money to buy an investment property, so they can have what to marry off their children, and now you're gonna make them accept less rent and have to renovate these apartments with extra fridge and whatever.

zNot. everyone who owns a property or two is a gbir

    4. If the rent is lower, the price of the property will be lower too, still giving you an option to make money.

  8. Nobody in Lakewood follows the Satmar lead and Lakewood is wild west and nobody runs this town except before elections some posters and postcards get sent out by some nameless / faceless orginazation VAAD telling people (sheep) who to vote for.
