Israel at war day 662

- i24NEWS: France tried to promote a consensus among the participants during the conference in New York to call on additional countries to recognize the Palestinian Authority as a state - it failed.

- Netherlands bars entry to Smotrich, Ben Gvir over statements on Gaza and West Bank

- Amit Segal: Within 48 hours, Jerusalem will decide whether to annex territory in Gaza if Hamas doesn’t release hostages. And yes, this is vastly different from the IDF simply capturing territory in the strip. While the military can relinquish any territory it controls, annexing parts of the strip is almost irreversible. Why? According to Israeli law, if the government wants to relinquish territory it has annexed, it has two options: the withdrawal can either be approved by 80 of the Knesset’s 120 members or through a referendum. In 48 hours, the Gaza terror group may finally be forced to decide.

- Hamas declared this coming Sunday, August 3rd, Tisha B'Av as an international Arab-Islamic day of solidarity, protests and pressure to mark the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh by Israel. Hamas says it will activate “all forms of pressure” in support of Gaza, Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa, and Palestinian prisoners.

- The international pressure on Israel these days has already caused Hams to harden its positions in the negotiations and directly harms the chances of reaching a deal” - this was the update given by Israel Foreign Minister Sa'ar in a briefing to foreign journalists.

- Israeli Minister Ron Dermer, National Security Council head Tzachi Hanegbi, and Israel's ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, are expected to meet tomorrow (Wednesday) in Washington with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also serves as National Security Advisor.

- Israel Finance Minister Smotrich: "If I am still in the government, it probably means I have a reasonable basis to assume good things will happen. Time will tell if I was right or not."

-Two senior officials in the British government told The New York Times that Prime Minister Keir Starmer has changed course and is now seriously considering a move to recognize a Palestinian state - emphasizing that this stems from the “worsening humanitarian” situation in the Gaza Strip

- Palestinian death toll in Gaza war passes 60,000, Hamas-run health ministry says

 - In Jordan and Egypt, there is outrage over the interference of Khalil al-Hayya, the Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, in Jordan's internal affairs following his call to Jordanians to "move towards Palestine by sea and land."

- A new Gallup poll finds that about six in 10 US adults disapprove of the military action Israel has taken in Gaza, up from 45% a month after the Hamas onslaught of October 7, 2023, which sparked the war. The poll is mainly friven by democrats while Republicans remain largely supportive of both Israel’s military actions and Netanyahu.

-An IDF reservist soldier was found dead Sunday night in his home in southern Israel, the military announced on Monday. The soldier, who was ultra Orthodox  had previously served in the IDF’s Military Rabbinate, where his duties included identifying bodies after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack. Several Hebrew outlets reported the incident as a suspected suicide.
An acquaintance of  his told Hebrew media that the late reservist “saw very difficult things in his position in recent years.”

  1. I am sure Hamas is petrified of another Zionist threat, literally just a paper saying nothing. These Zionists declared war on Torah and now the world has declared war on these atheists reshaim gemurim, kofrim b'ikur.

  2. UK PM Starmer also said all hostages to be released immediately, Hamas to lay down arms, Hamas to never be involved in governing Gaza.

    They'll never agree.

Of course, our Neturei Kartanik will agree.

    Will Rav Hirsch agree?
