-Bais HaVaad of Lakewood Issues Letter Regarding Heter Kehuna signed by the original dayanim involved in issuing the heter Kehuna. In a newly released letter expresses its willingness to present the full details behind the heter before a mutually agreed-upon Bais Din.
The three Rabbanim proposed and agreed upon to preside over the matter are:
Rav Mendel Shafran shlita, Rav Leibish Landesman shlita, Rav Tzvi Gertner shlita
However, the letter clearly stipulates that the Kol Koreh issued against Bais HaVaad must first be formally withdrawn. Only once that occurs will the Rabbanim involved in the heter be prepared to present their reasoning and halachic basis before the agreed-upon panel.

The BHV's letter does not say that they have to withdraw that disgusting letter before going to Beis Din. It merely states that they signers on that letter must also sign that they will abide by the psak of the Beis Din.

DeleteThere are two letters, one is from the Dayanim of the Pesak, who will submit to a tribunal if their adversaries will.
DeleteThe other is from the Beis Havaad, who expect the letter to be retracted before discussions begin.
Either way, there is no real way the signers, tumulters, and coffee room insitgators will submit to anything. They say they want an outside tribunal, but they are secretly afraid of that.
Honestly, the Bais Havaad comes across as knowing they are wrong and are trying to play games and also to judge this in the court of public opinion.Bais Havvad only cares how they look in the eyes of the hamon am {haaretz}. They thing their wannabe sophistication and worldliness will win over the mAsses to believe they are legit.
ReplyDeleteREB is not someone to play games with. To my eyes it doesn;t even matter if the heter was ok or even if it was upheld. REB believes this BD stinks and should be dissolved.
The way the BHV dealt with this til now only reinforces it in the eyes of most ppl with a semi yishiva background. Their sneaky dealings and open chutzpah is silly in hindsight while the believe they won with their sophisticated taanos.

DeleteHate to break it to you, but R' Elya Ber is not the only אדם גדול in America. There are quite a few Rabonim who are בר פלוגתא of REB and are backing Bais Havaad 100%.
I don't understand, the BHV is being threatened and bullied that they must submit to another investigation. But now you say that they must be disbanded, and cannot be redeemed. So this maaracha is being misrepresented, with a claim of 'we just want an independent investigation', when they really mean, 'you must shut down'.

Bais Havaad using JCN to try and win a PR war over the olam as it prepares to release its heter 100 rabbonim to try an undo the Kol Kore by the gedolei Roshei Yeshiva and poskim. It ain't gonna work and this latest letter just shows the disregard they have and more spin in a late Friday afternoon release while they don't agree to take any responsibility for this heter
ReplyDeleteThe demand to withdraw the letter before they submit to, is sort of ridiculous. if they were wrong all along and they dragged their feet for all this time they deserve to be shut down. if they are proven right then it's obvious that the letter was wrong....... let them prove themselves to the whole world once and for all, it's a great PR move. (The smart money is not betting on it, it won't happen)
ReplyDeleteFor the sake of accuracy the leader of the BH requests the retraction of the letter before his organization will submit to the review panel. the actual signatories of the heter actually demand that all those who opposed their opinion sign on to the heter if they are vindicated by the review panel. The first request to withdraw the letter condemning them is somewhat understandable the second request is sheer audacity.

DeleteLets be clear. The BHV is smart enough to realize that REB and co have an agenda to destroy the BHV unrelated to the Laskin story. As REB has openly told people. So they arent willing to go to a panel, and then have REB and co say 'not retracting anyway'
ReplyDeleteWell the last time we played this smoke and mirrors game, with RSK hiding behind other rabbis hidden reasonings etc when it finally went to R D. Feinstien he was forced to retract (at least officially) so if history is a teacher here it might just happen again.... And maybe his evasive and deceptive modus operandi is enough of a reason to justify r e b's opposition to him.... If he really has information others don't have What is he so worried about??
