Large crowds are expected to visit the Kever of the Rav Hakolel and chief rabbi of New York city, Rabbi Yaakov Joseph Zt'l on his 123rd Yartzheit - 24 Tamuz
He is buried in the Union Field cemetery in Ridgewood, NY at the Brooklyn/Queens Border close to crown heights and Williamsburg. He was niftar in 1902 (5662).
Rav Yoel Teitelbaum, the pervious Satmar Rebbe, would encourage his chassidim to daven at the tzion of the Rav Yaakov Yosef. It is reported that many people have found a yeshuah after visiting the tzion.

ReplyDeleteHis son was shomer shabbos and established the Rabbi Jacob Joseph School. He also had 2 daughters.
DeleteHis grandson was Lazarus Joseph who was a New York State Senator from 1934 to 1945, and was the New York City Comptroller from 1946 to 1954. He was publicly and proudly shomer shabbos and introduced kosher meat laws.
