Donald Trump had the best GOP performance in the reliably blue state in a generation

Normally a reliable blue bastion in federal elections, New Jersey surprisingly put up swing state numbers on Tuesday, coming the closest it has in a generation to casting its electoral votes for a Republican president. Politico

- With a governors race next year in NJ, some pundits say the data from the election results show areas in NJ flipping to republican like Passaic county.

Jackson forest fire

A multi-acre wildfire started burning Wednesday afternoon, threatening structures and forcing evacuations, authorities said.

The fire is in the area of South Stump Tavern Road in Jackson Township, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. The evacuation of 15 structures on the road is in progress, with 25 total being threatened.

- With nearly all voted now counted, Lakewood had a 63% turnout for the 2024 general election, down from70% in 2020.

The Orthodox Jewish community in Jackson united to vote as a bloc, with an estimated 90% of the community's 4,700 voters turning out in support of Burnstein, allowing him to win by a slim 114 vote margin.(Shlomo Schorr)

- Special Council for the U.S. Department of Justice, Jack Smith has reportedly informed Prosecutors that he is planning to Withdraw all Federal Charges again President-Elect Donald J. Trump, due to his Election Victory and the DoJ’s Policy against the Prosecution of a Sitting-President.

-Kamala Harris called Trump "to congratulate him on winning the 2024 presidential election," per a Harris aide. Kamala Harris "discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans."

- Orthodox Jews overwhelmingly voted for Trump.

In the village of New Square, 3,456 people voted for Trump and 12 votes for Harris.

In the village of Kiryas Joel, which has around 10,000 Jewish voters, over 8,000 voted for Trump.

In Rockland County, New York, which has over 30,000 Jewish voters, Trump won with 17,000 more votes than Kamala.

In Orange County, New York, which has a huge Jewish population, Donald Trump won with 15,000 more votes than Kamala Harris.

In Sullivan County, New York, which has a large Jewish population, Trump won by 17 percent.

In Ocean County, New Jersey, which has a huge Jewish population, Donald Trump won with 117,000 more votes than Harris.

-A woman riding a bicycle was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday night.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said a 35-year-old woman was riding north on Cross Street near the intersection with Maplehurst Avenue in Lakewood around 7:35 p.m. when she was hit. The vehicle was also traveling north and is believed to be a blue or silver Toyota or Lexus SUV.
