Mr Schnall, how have they noticed? What has been delivered? How about tax relief, CHS voucher rule changes, widening route 9, and of course the tuition relief you promised?
ReplyDeleteYou can’t expect tax relief and in the same sentence ask him to pay for more programs for you. Tax relief means the government makes less money but then stops paying out for these things. I absolutely agree with that, but you want it both ways.
DeleteHe can definitely ask for it to be efficient.
DeleteHe can point out campaign promises.
He can ask for advocacy, if that's what is being claimed.
Or, he can point out = minimal sidelining, no need to be making so much no-good-ending noise.
Democrats are for increased taxes, more spending. Just not for tuition spending.
DeleteRe: tzitzit in or out
ReplyDeleteIt depends on your father's minhag.
Unfortunately, in the charedi world today, the father is a nothing (hence can be alienated) and the RY decides
So all these discussions and videos are meaningless. One should follow one's father's minhag, but they end up following the RYs minhag.
Father also followed RY minhag
DeleteHistorically, amei haaretz followed the herd, or their parents. Talmidei chachamim learned the sugya and paskened accordingly.
DeleteIn the MO world nowadays, halacha is sidelined because 'mimetic tradition'. And the mimetic tradition is from amei haaretz all the way back to Rabbi Akiva before he went to Yeshiva.
In the world of Bnei Torah, the source is the sugya, nothing else. Not RYs, not fathers, not 'what everyone does', but the sugya.
B’mechilas kovodoch, in the US, imho, many fathers of middle age b’nei Torah DID NOT wear their Tzitzis fully out.
DeleteAsk anyone that will be honest what did klal Yisroel look like 35-40 years ago.
Did older benei Torah wear the Tzitzis out?? Many did not.
I echo 1:06pm comment above.
Follow. Your. Fathers. Minhag.
Of course, if your Father is ok with you following your RY minhag and not his minhag that is great. But please note that many had the minhag of Reb Moshe ZTzvkl, and didn’t keep the tzitzis out unless they were wearing the beged on top of the shirt. (Which no one did in the US except some chasidim and the famous absolutely gorgeous MD Yarmish picture of Reb Moshe in the summer in Camp Staten Island)
If your father is a ben Torah you follow his minhagim if not than you have to learn the sugya
DeleteRav Ovodia Yosef (Yechava Daas 2:1)opposed Sephardim (but not Askenazim) wearing tzitizis out because (among other reasons) shelo lehotzi laaz al haRishonim. So it isn't just the am haartzim who expressed those concerns about this issue.
Delete35-40 years ago, father were subway kids, people who hadn't been brought up in a surrounding of Torah and Yiddishkeit. They came to Yeshivos and learned something, but Lakewood didn't, and doesn't, have the ability to impart much more than a certain level of lomdus in certain sugyos. So they all stayed handicapped. Some picked up more in Brisk, others discovered the rest of Yiddishkeit elsewhere. And others stayed severely handicapped. They are fine people, good people, who learn many hours a day. But their hasagos in Torah and Yiddishkeit are sorely lacking. כוונתם רצויה, but their opinions and minhagim are hardly binding.
DeleteSHHhh. Dont tell anyone that they dont pay taxes and our land was given to them Shh. Imagine if they woud pay taxes how much lower our taxes would be? I remember John Franklin saying that when they were setting up the town they wanted a 1/3 industrial, 1/3 Commercial and a 1/3 residential so the residential taxes would be low. Now it is almost the opposite they dont care about us as the residential paying high taxes...and have the commercial paying NO taxes. Keep voting them in!
ReplyDeleteIn truth the whole tax abatement is a scam. Why is there tax abatement given in the first place ? It's just so that companies will come to an area and give jobs to the locals. But here the locals are here already and the companies are here already they are both not leaving and just the opposite they both want to stay local and have no interest going elsewhere. So remind me again what's tax abatements? It's all a scam it all started when a company from howell got it in lakewood bec if not they said they are moving to Philly. That's a scam as all their workers already lived in lakewood and worked in howell so nothing was going to howell d rather all to lakewood as the business was registered in lakewood.
DeleteWhy should the state be responsible for fixing Route 9 when the township caused the problem and continues to exacerbate it through irresponsible planning?

DeleteWhen you walk into a store after closing time you demonstrate that you have zero consideration for other people. Not their time, not their family life, not anything but you own selfish laziness. You're in a rush to make Shabbos? So is the guy working in the grocery and liquor store. Grow up.
ReplyDeleteSome clarification about Rav Reuvain Feinstein and wearing tzitizis out . The Mechaber (OC 8:11) very clearly says עיקר מצות טלית קטן ללבשו על בגדיו כדי שתמיד יראהו. What Rav Reuvain Feinstein (and ybl'c his father) had issue with is wearing only the strings out and keeping the rest under your shirt. That is what he holds is a new minhag without any major shita to base it on.(as per my discussion with him about this many years ago)
ReplyDeleteNot sure what a major shita is?
DeleteThe practice of wearing one's tzitzis out even though his talis kotton is under his clothes is al pi the Levush and the Shla"h.
This practice also fulfills the reason of the Mechaber even if the precise practice is not how the way it is described by the Mechaber (i.e. it is the tzitzis themselves and not the beged that bring zicharon).
Additionally, there is a shita that u'riesem oisio itself is a mitzvah (this is the shita of the Sma"k and according to the Igros Moshe O"C 1:3 it is also the opinion of the Mordechai the Bais Yosef and the Ram"a). While this may not necessarily be an obligation, one can fulfill that mitzvah more frequently by wearing his tzitzis out.
Rav Reuven shlita is very much alive in Staten Island (and LES).
DeleteThis whole tzitzis discussion is all from some watsapp chats who decided to make a tumul for clicks.
ReplyDeleteEveryone should follow their own minhag whatever their father did.
We are not balei teshuva who follow watsapp and video clips on social media to decide how to function as yidden.
Get off this stupid social media run by ignorant bamei batim who want clicks
Amei haaretz are always bleating about mesorah.
DeleteThis is a sugya like any other, go learn the Magen Avraham and find out what he held.
Shtusim, if your father us a ben Torah you follow his minhag, of not than you pick and chose based on who says the best vort on the sugya
DeleteThe Q and A is bizuy talmidei chachomim and became an entertainment feature for these conversations. The questions asked are just for entertainment everyone knows the answers and the schools and organization already follow a certain derech. To have on the spot answers that no one plans to follow anyhow, is embarrassing and wasting time of gedolim
ReplyDeleteA few years ago someone discovered a film of the kenisia gedola of 1923 and of some of the many gedolim, including the Chofetz Chaim, who attended. ( I believe it's the only known real picture of the Chofetz Chaim)
ReplyDeleteNone of the people, Rabbonim as well as others, had their tzitzis showing. That's an absolute zero.
They were all wearing long coats
DeleteNot so. Many were wearing shorter outer garments. Check the video before making up stories!
DeleteHad a wonderful experience with Chavivim they came quick to fix the tire and plugged it. They made me feel good and not a burden for calling them.
ReplyDeleteIf you are stuck on the road call Chavivim they send you a ETA so you can see when they are coming and do the mitzvah with a smile
Thank you to the 2 chavivim members who came out late at night ro fix my flat tire
Why do we need Chavivim if we have Chaveirim?! Is this like another Hatzulas Nefashos?!
ReplyDeleteBh there's enough room for a few organizations to service the community and happens to be chavivim has a quicker response time from personal experience
DeleteThe Mesorah in The Chofetz Chaim's family is that The Mishna Berurah is discussing one who wears the beged out and the string tucked into the Knafos as clear in The Magen Avraham, that is a bizyaayon They wear their Tallis Kotton and strings under their clothes as The Mishna Berurah bring from The Kesavim that only the only The Tallis Gadol should be worn out for Ur'iesem Oso. דו"ק ותשכח
ReplyDeleteDifficult to understand because in s”k 26 the M”B says that those who put their tzitzis in their pants ignore what is written “uriesem oisio uzchartem”.
DeleteThe Levaya for R’ Tzvi Kogan HY’D was today in EY. The new chief rabbi, Rabbi Bar, spoke extremely powerfully, and the niftar’s father spoke with tremendous emuna peshuta, saying that the niftar’s tafkid in olam hazeh was already completed, even at such a young age, and so it was time for him to leave.
