Article from 11 years ago still relevant
As elections are here there's alot of distraction of the real issues facing Lakewood residents such as Traffic Taxes and quality of life. In the last 10 years property taxes have gone up a shocking 70% and continue going up with over 200 million owed to the state that will have to be repaid. So where does the Lakewood Vaad stand on it? it seems that nothing has changed since 10 years ago.
An Article in Hamodia dated November 2013 by a Vaad spokesman states, there is no real frustration in the kehilla regarding rising property taxes.” Weisberg says that the Vaad is “very pleased that the great vast majority did as was suggested” and dismissed, as “not serious analysis,” the notion that there is real frustration among the kehillah in regard to rising property taxes.
He also says that taxes, although nobody likes them, “aren’t going away — that’s the way it is. If you don’t pay taxes, you don’t get the services.”
Those who pay taxes are not only frustrated they are MAD. This year Lakewood Township raised the municipal budget taxes by 8 million while also giving out tax abatements in the value of 6 million and the politicians all raised their salaries while Lakewood taxpayers are left footing the bill.
The only candidate on the ballot who addressed this issue and will do what it takes to stop it, is Moshe Raitzik
Go Vote!

This is awesome. At least now we know what the issue is. We need to teach the Vaad the difference between high and low More and less a little and alot. High taxes no good low taxes inevitable. More traffic no good, less traffic excellent. A little corruption inevitable a lot inexcusable. wow this is an accomplishment.
ReplyDeleteThe VAAD is two businessmen who are currently in a major machloikes with yeshiva. They represent nobody but themselves. Show them the door.
DeleteUnreal!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere's the crisis? Are Mosdos closing down? Is there a lack of money anywhere?
ReplyDeleteWe should all vote so that the Menahalim should have an easier time of it?! Why? What is the quid pro quo?
The vaad is no longer
ReplyDeleteThe roshei yeshiva are not supporting them for this election as there was no signed letter
The vaad is a 2 man show
The vaad was not elected by the lakewood community as is brought down in shulchan aruch
Vaad members have not disclosed their financial dealings with regard to Lakewood Township govt
The vaad represents no one but themselves
Last election with Murphy Ciaterelli over 65 percent of Lakewood voted against the vaad and its daas Torah
Just something to keep in mind
I remember when those words were said. It made everyone's blood boil .
ReplyDeletePeople who taunt us that "taxes are part of life" and that we should just shut up about it have no business being public representatives. They go around excusing the government's tax grabs, instead of helping the public looking for relief from oppressive tax burdens.
This whole Vaad is a body of unelected, self-appointed officials, משתלטים על הציבור each with their own personal interests that mostly conflict with the actual interests of the general public.
They literally never did anything for anyone and then tell us that great things are happening "behind closed doors"
SHAME ON THEM.

ReplyDeletePerhaps Rav Yitzchak could explain it.
Also how come if he was so reluctant
Schnall ran, flopped, dropped out ,then ran again
I get HUD and my rent is tied to income so my B'H are none as I'm low income

DeleteNote to some (probably ignorant of the situation)rabbis in Jackson:
ReplyDeleteReb Yaakov was asked by R' YL when a situation comes up that orthodox jews in an area have a choice in an election between two representatives-one who reportedly is good for Jews [and/or jewish himself]; helps out the community; but supports immorality against the Torah vs another one who is not supportive of the Jewish community and Israel, however is a moral, decent human being. Which candidate should the Jewish community give their support? Reb Yaakov ztl answered “nein, nein” even were one person running for the government is anti-semitic while the first candidate is good for the Jewish community and strongly pro-Israel, we should side with the anti-semite!
¨¨
the Vaad is an extension of Daas Torah
ReplyDeleteCorruption of daas torah is more like it. משתמש בתגא
DeleteMoshe zev velvel Weisberg should disclose how much money he gets through lcsc from Lakewood taxpayers
ReplyDeleteHe should also apologize for calling innocent lakewood bnei Torah "Bad apples"
We are sadly in a state of pnei hador...
He clearly believes that anyone that tries to get in the way of his and the other vaad members cash grab are bad apples and he continues to call them nasty names. Sorry its not “loshon hara” אין תועלת גדולה מזה
DeleteDon't tell me anybody's mad until the bums get thrown out of office
ReplyDeleteMoshe zev velvel Weisberg keeps callingus. If his people win. We should all call him to get what he promised.
ReplyDeleteOh I missed it what did he promise? nothing.
Hakoras Hatov, I guess like the Rebbe who gave petch to an innocent kid, & demanded he thank him.
Hakoras hatov for trafic density , higher taxes, children not getting into schools, children sitting on school buses 2 hours & still ariving late.
Hakoras hatov for what.
His phone numbers are in the phone book, an eye for an eye as many times as he phoned us we should phone him on all his numbers and ask for an expalnation of hakoras hatov. He should have hakoras hotov for us calling him all day & all night.
A bunch of men who enriched themselves off lakewood resources on the backs of the poor lakewood families calling us clowns and using lashon Hora to shut us up. Sorry the Torah and chazal speak up very strongly i with severe consequences against people in positions of power who take advantage and make money off it. There is no mechila for the gneivas daas the abuse of the bloc vote and the high taxes and hours wasted in traffic
ReplyDeleteThey should be ashamed if themselves
For what they have done.
There are different loshon hora rules on a candidate, people need to know whom they are voting for & why they are voting.which allows LH lemeichash miboye. By standing you agree to be rated against your opposition.
ReplyDeleteThe first three people on the boe ballot are צדיקים . I hope they win
