Flashback: What The Vaad Said About Taxes

As elections are here there's alot of distraction of the real issues facing Lakewood residents such as Traffic Taxes and quality of life. In the last 10 years property taxes have gone up a shocking 70% and continue going up with over 200 million owed to the state that will have to be repaid. So where does the Lakewood Vaad stand on it? it seems that nothing has changed since 10 years ago.

An Article in Hamodia dated November 2013 by a  Vaad spokesman states, there is no real frustration in the kehilla regarding rising property taxes.” Weisberg says that the Vaad is “very pleased that the great vast majority did as was suggested” and dismissed, as “not serious analysis,” the notion that there is real frustration among the kehillah in regard to rising property taxes.

He also says that taxes, although nobody likes them, “aren’t going away — that’s the way it is. If you don’t pay taxes, you don’t get the services.”

Those who pay taxes are not only frustrated they are MAD. This year Lakewood Township raised the municipal budget taxes by 4 million while also giving out tax abatements in the value of 4 million and the politicians all raised their salaries while Lakewood taxpayers are left footing the bill.

The only candidate on the ballot who addressed this issue and will do what it takes to stop it, is Hershel Herskowitz

Go Vote!

  2. This is awesome. At least now we know what the issue is. We need to teach the Vaad the difference between high and low More and less a little and alot. High taxes no good low taxes inevitable. More traffic no good, less traffic excellent. A little corruption inevitable a lot inexcusable. wow this is an accomplishment.

    1. The VAAD is two businessmen who are currently in a major machloikes with yeshiva. They represent nobody but themselves. Show them the door.

  3. Where's the crisis? Are Mosdos closing down? Is there a lack of money anywhere?

We should all vote so that the Menahalim should have an easier time of it?! Why? What is the quid pro quo?

  4. The vaad is no longer
The roshei yeshiva are not supporting them for this election as there was no signed letter
The vaad is a 2 man show
The vaad was not elected by the lakewood community as is brought down in shulchan aruch
Vaad members have not disclosed their financial dealings with regard to Lakewood Township govt
The vaad represents no one but themselves
Last election with Murphy Ciaterelli over 65 percent of Lakewood voted against the vaad and its daas Torah

Just something to keep in mind

  5. I remember when those words were said. It made everyone's blood boil .

People who taunt us that "taxes are part of life" and that we should just shut up about it have no business being public representatives. They go around excusing the government's tax grabs, instead of helping the public looking for relief from oppressive tax burdens.

This whole Vaad is a body of unelected, self-appointed officials, משתלטים על הציבור each with their own personal interests that mostly conflict with the actual interests of the general public.
They literally never did anything for anyone and then tell us that great things are happening "behind closed doors"

    SHAME ON THEM.
