The girls schools have ended for the year some will be open for another week. Day camps in Lakewood are first starting July 1. In order to lessen the free time when camp ends and schools begin in September the day camps agreed to start a bit later to shorten the extra days before the school year. A good idea to fix a yearly problem if too much time lapse from when camps end and the new school year.
Not all schools were on board to finish the year later as some are ending a full week earlier thus necessitating a camp before camp and camp after camp. If there was uniformity across the board there wont be a need to have day camp 3 times, parents wont have to shell out more money or take off from work.
Most of the girls schools did agree to stay open until the end of June. This made the camps not being able to open until July because they use school building. Then came the news that there will be no busing for the last week,so most schools canceled for the last week(the ones that did not are giving busing). The reason there is a break between school and camp is because camps are in schools and schools need the building to clean up for the new school year. Beleve it or not but I spoke to a lot of people and many are happy that they have a week to get ready for camp.
ReplyDeleteLSTA has to legaly provide busing up to June 30 there is no reason or excuse that there was no buses for the end of the year. Mandated busing for private schools is from September 1 to June 30. Parents should not be asked to pay for the busing either.
DeleteJust wondering why the boys have busing and the girls only until the 20th?
DeleteWho is taking achrayus for girls roaming the streets for 2 weeks
ReplyDeleteHow can the LSTA not provide busing if they legally have to up to June 30th.
Why are the Roshei Mosdos quiet about all this.
Chutzpa
Uhm a novel idea the parents should take responsibility for their children?
DeleteDuh!!!!
Parents are working to afford the tuitions.
DeleteThe LSTA is NOT legally required to provide busing until the 30th. They are only required to do so if the contract with the school and vendor say so. All schools have their contract until this week which it usually was. Therefore it is ILLEGAL for the LSTA to provide busing for extra time as it was not part of the contract with the vendors.
ReplyDeleteThat's not what some schools said. They told parents the reason they changed the schedule and ended early was because the LSTA cancelled busing for the rest of those weeks.
DeleteOther schools are charging parents for the last 2 weeks for buses. Why are parents paying if the school had a contract.
Please contact your girls school and request additional week of school like Bais Faiga.
ReplyDeleteWe are very happy that Bais Faiga is giving additional school.
