False Alarm After Plane is Briefly Quarantined over Misdiagnosis

A Jet Blue Plane was briefly quarantined when children with mosquito bites were suspected of having the measles. Some passengers on the flight were returning home from a Pesach program in the Caribbean island of Punta Cana.

Dear Friends, Unlike all the other Passover "stories" that due to the nature of social media took on a life of their own this past Passover--the one that appeared earlier this evening regarding the quarantine of a Jet Blue flight from Santo Domingo to JFK was NOT based on anything factual. While the flight was briefly quarantined upon arrival to JFK, it was lifted the moment the 2 children in question were examined by actual medical professionals who realized the crew's "concern" was due to the fact they “misdiagnosed” typical mosquito bites as measles . What caused this "misdiagnoses" was not the bites as much the fact these 2 children were clearly orthodox Jews. Hence, the crew felt these children's appearance was reason enough to frighten a plane full of passengers and cause a panic. In short, while these children weren't victims of measles they WERE victims of something way more frightening called Profiling" --a disease for which there is no cure...or vaccine. Diamond Club--like
all top-tier programs was proactive in ensuring that our program wouldn't be marred by the kind of scenarios playing out in various communities throughout the northeast. Jet Blue clearly didn’t share our concerns or our commitment to actual due diligence--or any diligence for that matter. Considering what they “based” their decision on and how poorly it reflects on their “passenger centric” brand, we hope the family traumatized by this will be receiving an apology with the same decisive swiftness as the unwarranted and unfounded quarantine.
