Lakewood Property Tax Increase for 2019 Municipal Budget

Its not just the BOE budget that raises Taxes but now the Municipal budget will be going up and homeowners will see their taxes going up again.. The public hearing and  final vote will take place the night before Bedikas Chometz April 17th at the township committee meeting.

LNN reports Lakewood Township's Committee recently introduced the 2019 municipal budget, with a 3.5% increase over last year's final appropriations. The tax rate, for every $100 your home is assessed, will increase from $0.592 to $0.6402.

In simple words, this will increase the "average" Lakewood home $160 this year, for a total tax bill of $2,127. The average assessed value is $332,000, however, most homes are actually assessed much higher, so the tax bill will be higher. The committee will hold a public hearing before the final vote on April 17 at 6:00 pm in the municipal building.

  1. Why is the Township do in this, this makes no sense. The new development is a windfall for the Township, and they have had surpluses in their budget. It is the school district that loses money on development. Where did all the money go?

Think... should you continue to embrace those who are "Oiver on Lifnei Eyver" tens of thousands of times over and over again by telling us to vote for those who harm the community
