DeleteNot minhag yisrael by any means. Halacha dictates we do that each and every single day. Minhag yeshivos is to make it short. R shneuer instituted that on chanuka we should complete chazoras hashatz in order to say al hanissim
DeleteShort chazazat haShatz, halachically is only for exigent circumstances, not regularly. Not for convenience, not for picking up the babysitter every day. Find another minyan that starts earlier if it's a problem. Leave shiur (in BMG, they're not even in shiur anyway) earlier. If the maggid shiur doesn't let, find another yeshiva

The short mincha is what the beis Yosef calls Minnan hasfardim and says “yehi beshamta” someone who follows them, how ironic that Lakewood besides for being the gashmiyus capital is also known for the capital of the short mincha.

DeleteIn recent years, as people who weren't successful in learning turned to outside ideas, they have been attacking Bnei Torah for perceived or invented halachic shortcomings.
We should see these statements for what they are - שנאת עמי הארץ לתלמידי חכמים.
It is not about the short mincha, shaved beards, or late marriage. Its just hatred of talmidei chachamim and an expression of the frustration of those who didn't manage to find their calling in learning.
