Delete5:09 - you have missed the point. Eitz/Peleg don't question authority, they use the questions to undermine authority. Their questions do not assume Gedolei Yisroel have anything behind what they say, and they are based on the idea that knowing all of the facts is wholly unnecessary to forming an opinion.
