- It is related that Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev would sometimes wish others “Happy New Year” on January 1. This is based on the pasuk in Tehillim, “G-d will count in the register of the nations.” The Apter Rov would wish fellow Jews a “Happy New Year” and bless them on January 1. The reason suggested is because he wanted to draw a stark contrast in the way Jews celebrate their New Year, with solemn prayer and reflection, thus bringing Divine grace upon oneself.

- As the mesivta farher season approaches, the takanos from last year appear to be holding so far, with no mesivtas beginning farhers before the agreed-upon date.  New volunteer organizations such as Chavivim have not been added to the list

- According to the recent Township of Lakewood resolution establishing remote meeting procedures, the Township Committee will continue to hold only remote public meetings. Although officials claim this format increases public engagement, in reality, there is an average of only one public comment per meeting, usually from the same individuals. In contrast, neighboring towns like Toms River and Jackson hold in-person meetings, where politicians show respect to residents through face-to-face conversations.

    3. 10:27. Couldn't agree more. It's a complete chilul shem shamayim, and never accomplished anything for anyone, besides estranging more people from Torah and yiddishkeit.

    4. Wow the watsapp daas Torah guys showing up repeating the propaganda they are fed against yeshiva bochurim and bnei Torah

    5. unfortunately, they were affected by Zionist society. as we all know the anti-Netanyahu and kaplanist protests all involved blocking traffic and acting very violently. sadly, these bochurim were influenced by the zionists and think this is what standard protesting is. (of course, they are much less violent than the secular protestors) still and all, no one at all should go to the army - learning or not - as long as it is being used as a weapon against religious society.

    6. Hmmm I don't have WhatsApp, but apparently you do. Basically, the anti-Israel/IDF comments originate from young teens and yungeleit who would get a 4 on any history exam.

    7. The real churban is WhatsApp admins and podcasters spewing their two dumb cents on everything, convinced they matter, hashtagging “@KlalYisroel” from their toilets. It doesn’t get lower than this. The worst part is that people are intimidated by their bully pulpits, so they rant endlessly with zero accountability then have the chutzpah to say, “No rabbonim contacted me,” as if they hold any position of authority at all.

    1. If you were born from January of 45 till May of 45either in a camp or in hiding you are definitely a survivor and a NES. The war ended May of 45 and the killing and death marches went on till the end . And afterwards wasn’t roses and peaches

  6. Garbage State Parkway tolls were 25¢ not too long ago.
Haven't seen much improvement in the parkway, except the tolls paying for reconstruction of rest areas (that we can't eat anyway cause they don't carry much in kosher food) which the overpriced restaurants should be paying for.

  7. Why are we allowing the corruption in Lakewood government to continue..
They have no shame appointing themselves with no show fake jobs and pay themselves and family members big fat salaries with benefits while raising taxes on poor residents. Shameful and despicable especially from unzere

  8. Because people are fools. It's time Lakewood wakes up and votes these people out.

    1. This isn’t the people’s fault. It’s the fault of leaders and power-brokers who allow and actively facilitate this corruption and chokehold on the community. They could end it at any time, but they won’t. They’re knee-deep in it, clinging to power until they squeeze the last drop from local resources, then move on to the next opportunity, laughing all the way to the bank. The politicians are puppets who are given free reign as long as they deliver the goods.

  11. Welcome to an era where WhatsApp administrators are acting as the leading daas Torah of the generation. The real failure lies with those who elevate and follow them. Even more damaging is when respected Torah institutions and organizations choose to advertise with these platforms, lending legitimacy to rhetoric that deserves none. These voices claim to speak for the klal, yet in truth they represent only themselves spewing stupidity anti Torah hashkafos and worse.

    1. Everything here is tame
Classic example: Past couple months blog/substacks Slifkin & co. have been attempting to character assassinate Harav A Feldman, primarily because of his non-zionism
Besides sheer ingratitude to the person who a generation ago protected & mentored him, would it be anybody else behind it it would be stunning .For these rats nothing surprises.

    2. Rav F turned into a vicious opponent of Rav Slifkin.
      he's entitled to fight back.

It's not like we're not discussing two people anywhere near the same league.
& He was hardly a "vicious" opponent unless you're an obvious Slifkin cheerleader. He was sober & serious.
Slifkin has an agenda of bringing laid back Baltimore into his ardent zionist [& yes secular supporting] camp.He considers Harav F in the way.
