This weeks voice has a full perek of tehillim w shem hashem. Page 326. pls dispose of properly And spread the word.
ReplyDeleteThis week's voice has an ad for 24six. Please dispose of properly.
ReplyDeleteThe dude who writes comments on the treife internet is knocking 24six. Get a life
DeleteI don't let my kids on the internet. I don't let my kids on 24six.
DeleteIf it needs a filter, I don't want my kids using it.
Relax. The comment was written by AI.
DeleteThese music platforms are far from perfect. Goyish songs slip through the filters, undermining their stated purpose. An even bigger problem is the podcasts they host. They are nearly impossible to filter properly and are produced by random individuals people you wouldn’t allow into your home to preach their warped hashkafos. They have no mesorah, are often deeply misguided, and are filled with nivul peh. Many feature guests who are the exact opposite of the role models we want our children exposed to. This is a churban of epic proportions.
ReplyDeleteAs for the newspapers and weeklies, some of them should be discarded immediately straight into the trash the moment they land in your driveway.
I actually dont allow them to land on my driveway. The BP & Voice can both be accessed online in case I need to look something up. But I asked the courier not to drop any garbage on my property. Judging from the soggy mess at my neighbors' driveways, I'm quite happy with my decision.
DeleteIt’s not just podcasts. It’s news platforms, WhatsApp chats, and endless statuses. Every nobody with a phone feels entitled to broadcast their opinions and preach to Klal Yisroel. They spew garbage nonstop, commenting on every stupidity as if their voice matters.
ReplyDeleteThese people are delusional like someone ranting to four walls, convinced they’re saving the world. You wouldn’t trust them, wouldn’t invite them into your home, and wouldn’t let them speak in any public setting. Yet they freely unleash their ignorance.
They attack people’s parnasah, undermine rabbonim, and promote foreign hashkafos. With brazen hypocrisy, they push modern-Orthodox talking points under the hollow slogan of achdus.
And the tragedy is that people just scroll watching, listening, absorbing this filth and nonsense as if it were normal.
How is what you are accusing them of any different than some of the comments on hefkervelt?
DeleteNo difference it's all the same
DeleteHowever when organizations use these platforms and adverise or invite these administrators to speak to mederate or acknowledge them they are legitimized and give them a fake hechsher
We go crazy when shaimos appears in a magazine, yet we ignore many other things that are a churban, such as the full-scale advertising for sports leagues that is causing a churban to our children and families. What a busha that Lakewood allows this.
ReplyDeleteBeyond the advertising itself, the actual events include mixed crowds, chanting, and fressing hot dogs, with women cheering while their husbands run the bases or score a basket. This has introduced American culture into our children’s minds during the most formative years of their lives, while they are still learning in the cheder. They are constantly bombarded with advertisements designed to entice them to join these leagues.
Is there any mechanech or rav who truly approves of this?
Apparently most Roshei Yeshiva in the 1950s did. I was looking at some Torah Vodaas yearbook from the 1950s that had a whole article about how the Torah Vodaas Motzey Shabbos basketball league beat all the other Yeshivas except for YU because they never played against it. However since they beat MTJ and Chaim Berlin so badly and MTJ and Chaim Berlin beat YU so badly you can be sure Torah Vodaas would have beat YU too. Who were the Roshei Yeshiva of those Yeshivas at that time?
DeleteYou have many valid points.
DeleteUnfortunately, the way you chose to loop it in and present it will not give your points the consideration it may deserve.
What does one have to do with the other? If there's a sheimos issue, it deserves to be addressed. Addressing it does not detract other points.
I'll agree with you that at bare minimum this sheimos issue shows that, at minimum, there's a lack of oversight on all these ads and everything else in these publications.
@ Anonymous 6:13 That is some good stuff. Thank you for sharing with us
DeleteWhat do R Moshe Hillel Hirsch, R Meir Stern, R Elya Brudny ,and YLC R Dovid Feinstein, R Gifter and MANY others have in common, besides being Gedolei Torah...
DeleteThey ALL, when growing up, went to baseball games!
If your kid doesn't become a Gadol, it won't be because he went to a baseball game or belonged to a sports league.
6:13,9:46
DeleteNobody considered it Lchatchila
It was a NY accommodation that their mentors hoped we would get on away from by now
You can rewrite history but their mentors did not see at a big problem. MTJ put out a video about Rav Dovid. I assume you and many others in Lakewood didn't / wouldn't watch it because there were women on it , including the Rebbitzen. Obviously Rav Dovid had no problem with it, as we know.
DeleteHis wife said that, of course , her husband was a huge Talmid chochom, but he was a normal kid and did all the things they did INCLUDING GOING TO BALLGAMES!
'
Today's baseball games & non Jewish World is very different than the world in the 50's. This is why we need the Roshei Yeshivos of today to guide us.
DeleteMTJ was back then a draft dodger institution.RDF wasn't typical.
DeleteRRF shlita on the other hand wouldn't recommend these things
I was learning in Staten Island decades ago when some bochurim tried to arrange games against other Yeshivas . The menahal did not allow it. Rav Reuven Feinstein for his part would not have cared one iota. No one even thought to ask his permission because it didn't occur to anyone that he would oppose it if it wasn't happening during seder or any other time bochurim would otherwise be learning.
DeleteHe is correct. In Camp Morris everyone played ball , including people who are today's Gedolim. It was in no way discouraged. And get ready for this, they didn't wear Tzitzzis on the basketball court. People who wrote sefarim found in every Bais Medrash in the world. Camps played each other and there was much excitement . Enough of how the "world is different". It's the Gedolim and Roshei Yeshiva who are different.
DeleteA red herring.Nobody here was & is referring to a camp setting
DeleteSummer camp is not the (litvish) messorah.
DeleteDid Rav Shneur send his children to camp?
Did Kletzk have a summer camp? They just continued learning whatever masechta they were learning in June. There was no such thing as a "zman" in Slabodka or any other litvish yeshiva. Talmidim came and left whenever they wanted.
(Having said this, camp is important for making connections for future in life. How many to do you bump into someone you only know through camp?)
Rav Shneur definitely sent his daughters to camp. He himself spent part of his summers in Camp Munk . Rav Nosson Vachtfogel spent his summers in Camp Stolin . So yes it is a part of the old time Lakewood mesorah.
Delete3 & a half generations of camp in America count for some tradition
DeleteWhen something is assur, we must fight it.
ReplyDeleteWhen it is not assur, we can and should teach our families what we think of it, and we should live in sync with our values. But we have no business forcing those values on others.
There is no issur in a concert, sports league, or restaurant. Yes, my family will not attend these things, I will try and ensure that our entertainment is part of our Yiddishe life, not something external. A Shabbos seuda, chanuka messiba, siyum, or chol hamoed, are all opportunities to enjoy our bodies in tandem with our neshamos.
But when we force these opinions on others we teach ourselves bad middos, and we don't internalize the message ourselves. We lose out both ways.
Nobody said to assur the voice. Just to put it un the nearest trash bin. Which BTW so many already do.

DeleteThe sports & concert promoters are keenly aware that for a larger outer demographic not offering a strong negative reaction will cause the diametric opposite as you imply. Even if it isn't forbidden it is still sacrilege.Seems that doesn't stir you & yours enough?!
When there's no heated reaction they accomplished their mission cf. Devarim rashi 25:18
The Rav of the LBA is "The Rav Hatzair" Rav Moshe Zev Feldman Shlit"a.
ReplyDeleteWould he publish a letter that he stands fully behind it and takes full responsibility for any Sakana ruchniyus that may come of it that affects the innocent Lakewood children ?
Delete4:19 6:30
DeleteNot in a place where there was a tradition till then beforehand NOT to have such a league
What if they would start it in Gateshead
Love the LBA
ReplyDeleteStop comparing the 1950's to today's yeshiva world
ReplyDeleteStop comparing playing in summer camp to a full blown leagues during the zman
There is no comparison between the 50s and 60s and today's Yeshiva world. They
Deleteproduced much bigger people then!
Without the pressure.
And the people who are so upset over the leagues actually discourage the ball playing in Yeshivish camps.
