Lakewood A Makom Torah

Rav Malkiel Kotler paid a visit to the home of Rav Moshe Shternbuch, shlit"a, where Rav Shternbuch praised him for having a chelek in the development of the city of Lakewood a major makom Torah and a source of kavod for Hashem.

  1. That's so kind of him to tell The RY that he has a chelek in making Lakewood a Makom Torah!

  2. It used to be a place DEVOTED to Torah but sadly turned over into a city of Gashmius with the fanciest restaurants and expensive clothing and expensive fancy houses filled with pleasures and extras. Really a shame what happened to Lakewood

Today if YOU want to devote your life to Torah then move to a town of simplicity like Denver, Detroit or Boston etc..... and they still have restaurants there and also beautiful frum chinuch schools with separate for boys and girls etc..

    1. If you want to devote your life to Torah just stay in old Lakewood bordered by Clifton to Lakewood Road, from 2nd St to 10th Streetsor maybe 11th St.

    4. 12:17 PM,
They could have been dealt with then, but those on top blew it.Yet they're still on top.
Lot of the problems were already perculating in different ways then. But they were left to fester & then blow the stack to what it is now.

    1. You seem to have a problem with hot dogs. Did a hot dog attack you in your childhood?

  4. Keep in mind the "Lakewood gashmius" thing was brought upon us by 5 towns Seasons, Gourmet Glatt and friends.
    Real Lakewood is still strong.

  5. That's from the town of Lakewood mainly a result of the influx of oisvarf tuna bagels from NY. Nothing to do with the Yeshiva. When is the last time you stepped into one of the many full Batey Midrashim of BMG to see how it's knocking BL"H

    1. Sorry, but this is not true. Unless of course you believe that a chusid with payos is worse than a Jackson baal haboos with hair like a rockstar and clothing like a model in a Macy's window. At this weeks hatzola fundraiser in Jackson, there was men and women mingling, and the dress code was not tuna beigel.
      Stop with your hate.

  7. It’s the fault of those “machzike torah” whatever that’s supposed to mean. We used to value ehrilchkeit, frumkeit and
now it all boils down to “money”

  8. The gashmiyus in Lakewood isn't new. 20 years ago, the mother's and kids in Lakewood felt much more pressure to have brand names and the "latest thing ", than most ppl in Brooklyn.
