    3. Forget the blog, those letters are fascinating. I didn't know that there were so many Gedolei Yisroel on the side of the mattirim.
Reb Reuven Feinstein is quite clear. His 'talmid' should stop using his name.

    6. The professional tumulers have power that we cannot imagine.

That website was not set up for this tumult, yet they were the ones who could close it, as soon as it became famous.

The Beis Din should be scared. These people are tough and shrewd.

    9. This fight seems to have nothing to do with Halacha. Pashkevilln, chazaros and chazaros from chazaros, strange accusations, and balancing old budgets with Dayanim.
Now we are on to blogs, resignations, threatened resignations, and pressure for resignations.

    10. This is everything about halacha and corruption and the mattirim making the coverup worse then the crime ..and trying to fight back when they were exposed ..instead of coming clean

    11. What's this tumult about the site being down? I just went and it seems it was only down for a very short time. It's definitely not down now.

  8. I think it's a bigger churvah to force bochurim to learn a whole day straight ( which they are NOT capable of) than have them take a break for an hour or two and learn a little math, English, history, etc. Especially today u have frum teacher & books! In all the original Lakewood masivtas they taught, and still teach English .

    3. It is much easier this way to open a mesivta where the rosh mesivta doesnt need to busy with secular studies program. In New york all mesivtas has a serious studies program. Rav Aron Talmidim Rav Shmuel and Rav Elya (prior ot that Rav Schwartzman, Rav arons eidimn) had a serious secualr program in Philadelphia.

    4. you can hold what you want but don't lie and say that "original lakewood mesivtos" had english. The Mesivta of Lakewood is the original mesivta in Lakewood and it does not have English. Neither do any of the next ten mesivtos that opened in lakewood. there were no mesivtos in Lakewood with secular studies until Weinberger opened a few years ago.

    5. Slomowitz was the first in lakewood, tried it as a sales pitch, stopped when no longer needed, the pirtzah still there.
Originally, it was understood a Yeshiva and Secular Studies should not go together, atleast in Lakewood, anyone wished to open a high school with Tirah studies did it out of town.
Peer hatorah was a vocational institution.

    6. Rav Shmuel's father was always insistent on secular studies in TV.

    1. Reb Aharon backed, funded and did whatever necessary for Day Schools all over America and beyond, that was tha hatzaloh portal of that time, still height for Torah B'Taharah in Chadorom where possible. He wished and hoped that one day it will extend to all ages and yeshiva levels.
He expressed his deep pain that unfortunately he did not succeed yet in his lifetime.

  11. Listen up dumbbells! The mesiftah of R Yossel was not the first masifta of Lakewood even though it was physically in Lakewood. The first Lakewood masivtas ( led by talmidim of R Aaron & R Shnuir and adhering to their guidance) were, Philly, Scranton , and Denver.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It was R Yossel who BMG allowed to stay open being the aidem of the Mashgiach , he ALONE started this NEW STYLE of a masifte without english

    ReplyDelete

    1. New style?! Did Baranovitch have English? For centuries, the idea of limudei chol in a Yeshiva was anathema.

    2. 6:17 -- Rav Chaim has no problem with Russian in Volozhin. It was his BIL who opposed.
By the way, the Netziv was also a Tziyoni, he just didn't want it in Volozhin.

    3. Reb Yossel opened the Mesivta as a talmid of Reb Aharon and eidim of the Mashgiach.
Mission of the RY finally made possible when the time was ripe.

  13. Certainly in today's day and age and even 20-30 years ago boys needed English studies. Firstly they can not be expected to sit with their head in the memorable all day long. Their fathers nor rabbeim did it at their age. Secondly most of the boys will be going out to work at a real job and need a diploma and the skills. It's easier for them to do it when they're in HS rather than when they need to look for a job.

  15. First of all, the idea that Rav Aharon banned English in yeshivas is simply not true. Assu “original Lakewood yeshivas” means the ones started by his talmidim—like Long Beach, Philly, Scranton, and Denver—then the fact is, they were all founded by his talmidim and had strong English departments.

  16. “Assemblyman Schnall previously called the construction a minor inconvenience for the long-term safety benefit of adding sidewalks.” Yet, sidewalks have always existed along Central Ave, so it’s unclear what the real purpose of the work is. There seems to be a lack of transparency about what’s actually going on.
