It's incredible how easy it is for you to ridicule bnei torah that are struggling financially where every dollar counts. You better daven hard that you shouldn't have to experience what they're going through. And when you do have a hardship, hopefully you'll meet people that are compassionate enough to care - not those that laugh at someone else's expense and mock them with disgusting put-down lines.

  4. When two of my uncles and one first cousin died of what was said to be complications due to Covid19, I went into full panic mode. I shut myself in my home. I spent Pesach alone. I didn't open my door to anyone for months. Indeed, some of children who live in New York were tested positive. But gradually I came to the realization that I was being fed a pack of lies, and that my family who succumbed were killed not by the virus, but by the incompetent mismanagement of the medical "experts". It got so bad that Hatzolah of Lakewood advised against going to the hospital is at all possible.

Initially, the governors of N.Y and N.J. ordered a "temporary" shutdown of all activities public and private just for 2 weeks so we can "learn what we're dealing with". Then, the lockdown was extended for one month just so that we "can flatten the curve". Then, even after it was apparent that the "curve had been flat" for weeks, the lockdown was extended for another month, because heck, why not? Now it is suggested that schools public and private be closed indefinitely, just to be on the safe side.

I remember that we were initially warned that the virus was airborne and the infection was so virulent that the pandemic could spread just by handling a package days after it was touched by an infected person. Months later the CDC stated that, well, maybe that was a bit much; although the virus could conceivably be transmitted that way, there really wasn't much evidence that we should be concerned about that.

At first, many people began wearing masks like those worn by Asians when SARS was a serious consideration. At that time the CDC noted with alarm that this a terrible idea; that this was a dangerous practice and it would cause more harm than good. Now the "experts" reverse themselves. Although the masks offer no real protection against contracting the disease, they now say it is crucial in preventing the epidemic transmission of the disease.

Initially we were told to sterilize everything we touch. Wear sterile gloves. Do not by any means touch your eyes, nose or mouth without washing your hands first. Wash your hands in any event like you were OCD. (For Orthodox Jews this was irrelevant, because they was their hands frequently anyway as a religious requirement.) That suggestion has long been discarded. Now "social distancing" is the watchword.

Governor Murphy and Governor Cuomo the Second, recklessly mandated the release from hospitals of Covid19 infected patients directly into nursing home facilities , our most vulnerable population against the pleas of nursing home operators, they caused the totally preventable deaths of tens of thousands of the frail and elderly. They are attempting to cover up their incompetence by issuing onerous executive orders for school reopenings in order to "protect our children", arguably the least vulnerable to the disease.

When hydroxychloroquine was offered as a remedy by many epidemiologists, the FDA shut down the suggestion, because "they haven't completed their studies as
to its effectiveness". Could you believe this nonsense? Here claim that globally one million people died from Covid19, but they can't approve hydroxychloroquine because some people who were taking it continuously for over 5 years developed eye problems.

Bottom line: I don't believe a word that comes from a governmental or traditional media source. They are "huchzak shakronim"; proven habitual liars.

    1. But the cemeteries don’t lie.
And when you contact it (not if but when) it also won’t be Covid which does not exsist.
It will be some lying doctor, nurse, Hatzalah guy, or some BLM guy’s fault.

    3. A hallmark of chochma is constant re-evaluation and thought.
The doctors were not sure of lots of things at the beginning, and now they are also unsure. Nobody who knew the slightest thing about medicine thought otherwise. They gave you the best information they had at the time, knowing that much would change as the picture becomes clearer.
When they changed their minds, they weren't 'lying', they were and are still working things out.

And that is how medicine always worked. They NEVER have all of the information, they are NEVER sure of themselves. Confidence is the purview of minor intelligence, the more you know, the less confident you are.

So the researchers are the only ones who know SOMETHING about this pandemic, but their information is constantly liable to change.

Unfortunately, some people did not see it this way at the beginning, they thought the doctors' advice was absolute, and they had a big fall when they realized that it was not so. That does not mean that their advice is useless, just that it is not absolute.

    4. Hefekervelt keeps telling us about the number of cases in Lakewood without distinguishing between the Jewish and non-Jewish communities. Not very helpful.

Being directly in touch with someone at one of these research institutions, I can tell you that the scientists are not letting their guard down one iota.

That's a wonderful little sermon, the more you know the less sure you are sure about things, we need to be careful, better safe than sorry, etc. All that is wonderful.
The only problem with this is that based on unverified information and extra precautions we are causing massive disruption in people's lives. Not since 1945 has life been turned upside down like it did in the past few months.
Being careful is nice but you need to weight the consequences of these precautions
