Hatzolah organizations in frum communities have reported an uptick in cases of covid19 with some patients in the ICU. Hamodia reports of dozens of cases of patients who became infected with the virus again. The gabbaim of the Bobov kehillah in Boro Park on Monday issued a warning that new cases of coronavirus are cropping up. They said that people at risk should be careful not to be in places where social distancing is not possible. “At risk” is defined as anyone over the age 60, if he or she has underlying conditions, or doesn’t have antibodies.
Williamsburg Hatzolah told their members that they have also received reports that some people in the community have tested positive for coronavirus.
Monsey Hatzolah issued a emergency
community anouncement warning that new Covid cases have been appearing, including some who required hospitalization, and are urging people to be extra careful to wear a mask if they cannot socially distance according to a report in kol Haolam.
Baltimore community updates This week we have continued to see a slight but consistent rise in the number of cases in the community. Most people were infected while attending weddings and other simchas and then spread the infection to people in their own homes. Other isolated cases have been occurring as well, which raises concern that there has been more spread in the community.
Lakewood too has an increase of cases within the past week as reported by the Ocean county health department.
Meanwhile Lakewood is silent. Why can't we institute some safety measures before it's too late (it should never come to that point)
ReplyDeleteWe should all wear masks when going to shul, stores and public places. You want to protest? Go ahead. Do that with similar knuckleheads but don't go to a shul or store and put people at risk for no good reason. Wearing a mask is hard, but being in an ICU or sitting Shiva on a low chair is much much harder.
If we combat this as a community and everyone follows the law and recommendations we can make a Kiddush hashem and save ourselves from this machla.
Community? In Lakewood?
DeleteWhat rock are you hiding under?
The old Lakewood “community” or “Lakewood Kehila” days are unfortunately long gone.
Lakewood is sadly long gone and so is the devoted life to Torah people would come to live in Lakewood for.
DeleteWelcome now to Brooklyn NJ
We should 'all' wear masks?
DeleteI think only those who did not have the coronavirus yet should. Those who have tested positive for antibodies shouldn't have to.
Agreed !! In addition store owners must enforce the rule with their workers. If they don’t they have blood on their hands. If they can’t then close your store.
ReplyDeleteany statement from lakewood hatzola they were very vocal after the first wave and some members even threatened rabbonim not to go to calls in their developments because they had a corona survivors minyan.
ReplyDeletewhy the silence now what happened to the achrayus
Masks don’t work.
ReplyDeleteStay Home forever !
Don’t go to Shul , or stores !
We will bring you your food .
We will be fine without you !
Sounds like the cemetery works.
DeleteThat’s why it is so silent in Lakewood.
The head of Mezamrim choir has corona after going to Cleveland he had 104 fever
ReplyDeletelast week a chasuna took place outdoors in lkwd after one of the parents were sick with coronavirus and could not attend the wedding. This is not a joke the second wave is hitting
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on the agenda from the higher ups if opening schools is important they will keep things hush hush if satisfying Murphy is the agenda they will shut everything down. The safety and well being of the people is not the focus.
ReplyDeleteIt is infuriating to see comments that are full of hand wringing and moaning about the lack of social distancing or face masks, as if that's the cause for an uptick. AN EPIDEMIC IS A NATURAL DISASTER AND THERE IS NOTHING HUMANS CAN DO ABOUT IT !!! All you can do is try to protect yourself and your family by staying away from people as much as possible. It's up to each person to try his best to do that. A store dosn't need to "enforce" masks; if someone feels vulnerable DON't show up. We have become a dictatorial society , convinced that "we" could stop an epidemic. We can't change the weather and we can't stop virus spread.
ReplyDeleteSounds like store owners are immune to covid.
DeleteAny customer can walk in without a mask and the owner MUST step away if they don’t want to catch Covid.
Don’t know in which Yeshivah they thought him this Geonik logic.
Not a word from the vaad or askanim they must be on strict orders to keep quiet.
ReplyDeleteNot picking sides but Lakewood has been effectively open since mid May and many schools reopened then as well. Maybe a study should be done using that info since BH there has not been another pandemic since then.
ReplyDeleteYes, there are cases and most likely will always be cases just like the common cold - of which Covid is in the same family - or the flu. Even with flu vaccines many people still get it since my dr had always told me the flu vaccine is barely effective.
Basically what I am saying is BH the virus seems to have done its initial hit where no one was prepared. Neither the medical profession nor the human immune system. Lakewood has been open 3 months and there has not been another pandemic.
Boro Park opened up earlier, and now they have an uptick.
DeleteSo we are a few weeks behind them, why not do something with their experience?
Check New Zealand. Over one hundred days and not a single new case and the on day 102 suddenly 4 cases, on day 103 - 17 cases, day 104 - 46 cases. Then over 100 cases and the entire city where it came back is in lock down.
