A New Rebbe in Sadigura

The youngest married son of the Sadigur rebbe ztl has been accepted by the chasidim as the heir and will serve as the 7th Sadigura Rebbe of the Ruzhyn dynasty. There was no formal or official announcement but according to some reports the latest Tzavaah stipulated that he take over. The new Rebbe, Rav Yitzchok Yehoshua Heshel Friedman shlita the 5th son  is 24 years old, he currently lives in Antwerp. He learned in the Gateshead and  Mir yeshivos is a close talmid of Rav Asher Arieli shlita. The rebbe will be moving to Bnei Brak to lead the chasidus. The older sons may be appointed as rav in their communities of Yerushalayim and London.

  1. Curious why the 2nd youngest was accepted as rebbi and not the older sons? It seems very disturbing to me.

  6. If you knew your chassidus you would know that the mantle does not automatically pass to the oldest nor to the biggest scholar A rebbe is a manhig part tzaddik, part scholar part father part friend. My father ussed to say that the rebbe is who the chassidim will follow. in vishnitz for example the scholar son became rosh yeshiva but the son with the heart became Rebbe. Like wise in the Yeshiva world it was not the son who inherited unless he was rauy. The Rosh yeshiva usually chose the best boy in the yeshiva as a son-in-law and heir. e.g. Rav Isser Zalman ztl had sons but his heir was his son-in-law. Both chassidus and the yeshiva world have weakened when the son automatically assumes the role or thinks he should assume the role.
