-Levaya of Rabbi Nechemia Rockove Zt"l, Mashgiach of Yeshiva Ner Yisroel Toronto, will be held at 10:30am at the Cheder Bais Medresh, 725 Vassar Avenue. Kevurah at the 7th St Bais Olam. (LNN)-APP reports on Levaya of Rav Chaim Dov Keller ZT"L pointing out that "none of the mourners wearing masks or any other face covering and stood just inches apart. Those who were seated typically were fewer than six feet apart". Funerals are protected under the First Amendment must be limited to 100 people. Rabbi Aaron Kotler, president of Yeshiva Beth Medrash Govoha, noted Keller's strong family connections to Lakewood and his prominence in the Orthodox world and BMG's place as a central Jewish cultural gathering place where "some of the prominent Jewish funerals in recent years have been held." He added that many in the area are not concerned with COVID-19 "with near zero cases in recent months and the few cases all mild." "We keep reinforcing mask and social distancing message but after so many months locals are not focused as much and there is little fear by them of any recurrence," Kotler said.

Unfortunately the near zero numbers in Lakewood have an upward trend and even if 19 or 23 cases sounds negligible, those infected make others who dont have antibodies vulnerable. It is upsetting that a tzibbur who will run to the greatest doctors and most vaunted hospitals, cavalierly ignores masks, which are the most basic safeguard against mass contagion.
ReplyDeletethanks for the talking points sheep
DeleteCan you show us evidence of this upward trend? We have been hearing numbers in the single or low double digits, that get revised to 1 or 2 within a day or two.
DeleteThere is no upward trend from the last three months at all, what you are saying is not backed by the data.
NICE GUY. What do you mean?
DeleteYou have been proven wrong from the facts on the ground. We threw social distancing and masks in the trash bin months ago, and nothing happened. But you can keep wearing your mask for the rest of your miserable life. See if we care.
DeleteAround the world mask haven’t been the answer
DeleteOn one of the days, there were 16 positive cases. That is quite a way up from zero or single digits. The scandal is that 12 of them were traced to one event in Brooklyn. Don't say nothing happened when you threw social distances in the trash.More than anything, it is a Chilul Hshem because frum Jews are flouting the mandates of the CDC.And the prospect of causing an irrevocable Chilul Hshem should determine your actions more than anything.
DeleteHow long after that day were the numbers revised downwards?
DeleteHm, did the APP find fit to comment on the social distancing at the protests?
ReplyDeleteQuite ironic, that by a levaya of someone who died from corona, people are not following procedures set in place to stop the spread of infection.
DeleteWhy aren't we hearing about the terrible story in Bensonhurst yesterday? Why is it being covered up by the Heimishe news companies?
ReplyDeleteThe story was shared only to alert parents that even 11 year olds need to be supervised at the byus, or at least warned about going places with other people, even if they know them. the details are not important as the victim who is a minor has to be protected. Like a mask protects you from GIVING and GETTING infection.

ReplyDeleteSigned,
Lakewood resident who cannot fathom how people can write such hateful/stupid comments
Just to be clear the knucklehead writers do not represent Lakewood. They are most likely bored soles who are upset with everything and use this form to knock others. Or maybe they had coronavirus and one of the symptoms is mental issues.
DeleteJust to be clear, it is spelled "bored souls" not "bored soles".
DeleteSigned: A bored soul
