Referring to members of the Jewish community who advocate for causes they care about as “monsters” wielding “dark money” is shockingly offensive and unacceptable for a mayor who claims to represent all New Yorkers. This is not about political disagreement, it is about crossing a dangerous line by invoking dehumanizing and conspiratorial rhetoric with a long and troubling history in antisemitic tropes. We cannot allow fearmongering, conspiracy theories, or the demonization of Jews to become normalized in our public debate

- Trump: After spending Trillions of Dollars on NATO, Italy, and its Prime Minister, wouldn’t even think of becoming involved with the Islamic Republic of Iran and their very serious Nuclear Threat. For decades, we defend them but, when tested, they are not there to defend us, and the rest of the World. Not good! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Ut sounds like something wrong that you have pay tuition. Did you pay for your groceries on Friday.
ReplyDeleteDid the moros get paid?
DeleteIt should be prorated
DeletePSA for those looking for local camps for their bochurim with good learning and daily outings: 8th grade Camp Mesibah 732-795-2299, 9-11th grade Camp Netzach 848-366-8277
ReplyDeleteWhy is keren olam hatorah raising from poor lakewood youngeleit when they are getting over 100 million from the wealthiest gevirim
ReplyDeleteRav Moshe Hillel just arrived from a motzei shabbat flight, and already leaving. He must have collected from the big gvirim, doesn't need Lakewood yungelite money.
DeleteSin'as Hatorah dressed in 'concern for the yungeleit.'
DeleteI am sure the commenter danced in Philadelphia for the concert.
Thirty day old food -- just like the food served in yeshiva.
ReplyDeleteThere tonz of tuition balances that were not paid up yet before end of year
ReplyDeleteWhy is that not a priority
For the parents who owe the money paying it should be their priority . For me, I prefer my tzedoka go to Keren Olam HaTorah over most Lakewood mosdos . I don't owe the blog world an explanation why.
DeleteIf was Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch who said that the money to Keren Olam Hatorah should not come at the expense of local tzedakas and mosdos
DeletePlease explain the justification to schnorr money from poor youngeleit that have no money and owe tuition. Why should they pay for all the private planes and helicopters how much are the expenses
You might not owe anyone an explanation however you do owe yourself an explanation since your position is in violation of halacha aniyei ircha kodmin..... and if you had a little bit of foresight you would realize that your children growing up won't have the proper infrastructure to develop into truetalmidei chachomim without teachers getting paid a liveable wage.... and a kollel which actually pays something close to a stipend which a person can survive on let's not forget when BMG first started they paid $40 a week which was a average salary..... your children might not need the money but they won't be able to find a society/ group of yungerliet which can actually pursue Torah study and not be running all day doing errands for the wife who is overworked.
DeleteMaybe the reason you prefer giving the money to ey is because you perceived they are more successful in their studies and perhaps it's because they have more peace of mind despite having less money in the bank their wives only work half day and their stipends are relatively higher than what is given in BMG. While their cost of living is lower
Question. If a development has a tzedoka keren to help residents of that development and I don't live in or right near that development, is that tzedoka still aniyey ircha? No Boich svora answers please. Maarah mokomos only. What about the Aruch Hashulchan that discusses not giving such priority to aniyey ircha if aniyem in another city have no other place to turn to. Why aren't those screaming aniyey ircha not addressing or even acknowledging it?
DeleteWe need to take care of torah in eretz yisroel but we also must take care of our neighbors/friends/shul members etc. How many have tuition balances grocery balances unpaid loans etc etc. Why are shuls making trips to Europe when the $$$ could be used to help their fellow shul members or raise the same amount to help your fellow shul members who definitely aren't joining and have many unpaid bills.
ReplyDeletePier Village is owned by Charlie Kushner (current US Ambassador to France and father of Jared and Yael)
ReplyDeleteDid MK Goldknopf at least go to the levayahs?
Is there enough room in Aisle 9 for a mini cafe?
Satmar will give Mayor Mandami an exemption. Or did their "bochurim" get released right away?
Charlie Kushner (current US Ambassador to France and father of Jared and Yael
ReplyDeleteYou're mistaken. His two children are Jared and Joshua.
Why didn't jarred ever wear a yarmulke?
ReplyDeleteReading through all these comments, it is amazing how many people have opinions, calculations, theories, and explanations for why they should or should not help.
ReplyDeleteBut let’s stop for a moment and get back to the actual issue.
There are hundreds of thousands of our brethren across the ocean, עמודי העולם / מלכי רבנו whose lives have been turned upside down. Many have lost their source of income. Many are struggling to put food on the table. Families that were somewhat managing before are now facing situations they never imagined.
That is the reality.
Everyone can come up with reasons. Everyone can analyze. Everyone can debate. Everyone can explain why someone else should give, why someone else should not give, why this campaign is right, why that campaign is wrong.
Meanwhile, people need help.
The question is actually very simple:
Do you want to help your fellow Yeshivamaan in their time of need, or do you not?
Because at the end of the day, hungry children do not eat explanations. Families do not pay bills with opinions. And struggling people do not survive on comment sections.
What I have noticed over the years is that the people who are busy giving are usually not the people spending their time complaining. The people opening their hearts and opening their wallets generally do not have much time for endless criticism.
The loudest critics are often the ones who have contributed the least, or don’t give a dime altogether.
If helping is not for you, then simply step aside. But standing on the sidelines throwing stones at those who are trying to help accomplishes absolutely nothing.
Our brethren are hurting. Their livelihoods have been damaged. Their needs are real.
The rest is noise.
There are plenty of people here without jobs. Over 100 girls without a school yet for primary. Many more who are stuck in bad schooling situations and are being told "there isnt enough room, there isnt enough money." this is like starting the biggest chesed organizations for everyone else while your own family starves. I think its very hard for people to see hundreds of millions purportedly going to other mosdos when there simply isnt enough here and basic needs of a town are not being met. I know its exciting and it makes you feel better to give to toras eretz yisroel (which is a big thing) but that doesnt make it correct.
DeleteYes & no. My sister-in-law is a principal of a special ed program somewhere else in the New York area. A fella started giving her a litany of all the things wrong with such programs. Afterwards to her surprise he gave her a nice large donation
DeleteAdmit it or not, Israelis have the attitude that we exist solely to be squeezed forever for their benefit. And that is all religious/secular demographics
DeleteWhy do starving children whose fathers have a different hashkafa not deserving of funds
DeleteWhy did Rav Ezriel Auerbach have to travel on his own to raise money for his mosdos why can't he be part of the mishlachas.
Hungry children do not need explanations
What about Ger children do they deserve to starve..
9:13 PM How much do you give to people who have haskfas very different than yours?
DeleteDoes Keren Olam announce that Eitz affiliated fathers and yeshivos don't receive a penny from the fund?
DeleteIs that public knowledge?
Are people in Lakewood aware that the money is only distributed to certain yeshivos and kolelim?
Does Keren altogether announce what yeshiva gets how much, and are the yeshivot committed to give funds to talmidim?
DeleteWhy should Etz be different?
Maybe they should run to Satmar mosdot which support them?
No one is debating the need. The question is priority. A very important yet very complicated question. There are many crucial needs in our community which are completely overlooked and unaddressed there was definitely enough money to go around for everybody the question is priority and focus and when we are constantly completely focused on what is going on over the other side of the ocean and not on the needs of our neighbors and Friends There is some calibration necessary.
ReplyDeleteWhy is shuvu a higher priority than say shalom Torah centers? Vaad haartzi ltaharrass .... A bigger priority than Mikva USA... Our rebbeim who have mortgages cars insurance and tuitions to pay who earn say 60k not a higher priority than a melamed in ey who earns 12K shekel a month with a pension.. which no school in the US offers and doesn't pay tuition or mortgage etc..... And the list goes on
ReplyDeleteHow many children are in Shuvu and how many are in Shalom Torah Centers? Our rebbeim are living with a lot higher standard of living than the melamed in EY is. etc.etc.etc.
Deletea.Rebbeim perhaps
Deleteb. less than fully accurate. There are many non-tangibles that they have over there EY
How does a Rebbe with many children get a mortgage with only $60K income?
DeleteShalom cannot expand without a proper budget and therefore as far smaller but that's just the point. There are thousands of non frum Jews living all around us And they get absolutely no priority at all
DeleteI'm reading hefkervelt for years. Not once have I ever seen anyone ever express concern about Shalom Torah Centers or doing kiruv for the many secular Jews living in Ocean and Monmouth county. The fact that is became such a great concern only now and only in the context of NOT giving tzedoka (elsewhere) shows that it isn't coming from the Yetzer Tov. You can be sure that when Keren Olam HaTorah is out of the picture all this "concern for aniyyey ircha" will fade away with it
DeleteIts worth for peleg not to take money even what they can get get more from satmar her has very strong igud ran by chairman of A. agudah
ReplyDeleteSchool owners must realize a mosad is NOT a business! Unless they have the means to help out parents who try but legitimately struggle to pay tuition, they should CLOSE their school NOW!
ReplyDeleteYou mean: they weren't. And aren't supposed to be. But they are now!
DeleteA mosssd is a business!
DeleteDon't argue.
All extra money should go to the Shul Building Campaign of a local Shul that for 23 YEARS was stopped from being built & has finally been given the go ahead - vihamayvin us in!
Delete9:40
DeleteSo no tzedakah. Announce that publicly>
Someone should inform the government that they're not a non-profit
If agree not to vote and not take money for Cheder yeshiva katana… satmar will give alot
