-NJ Gov Sherrill: I’m grateful for our partnership with the City of Newark and Mayor Baraka as we’ve ensured that ICE has not surged into our streets, our law enforcement has secured the area outside Delaney Hall, and we’ve restored visitation rights for detainees and their families. I’m confident peaceful protest will be able to continue there, as it has for more than a year.

watching the vild security guards with little yamrkuals pushing the adirey hatorah away while shouting at them as the roshey yehsiba came in was such kabvod hatorah!
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves things like that.
DeleteThe purpose of these gatherings is to push and shove and make a matziv. If there were windows to break, it would be even more fun.
We have learned our lesson well. The Chassidim finally took over.
Many wannabees have had that fantasy for a long while. Here we are

ReplyDeletePosting from their page:
Our family suffered a tremendous loss with the recent petirah of our dear son-in-law, the unforgettable avreich, R’ Shimon Frank z”l.
From a young age, R’ Shimon zl exhibited an unusual desire to continuously grow and accomplish in all areas of avodas Hashem.
In his short life time (he passed away at 26 years old after an aggressive illness), he achieved a rare measure of shleimus.
His Bain Adom Lchaveiro was impeccable, constantly thinking of others. With his powerful zest for life, together with a well honed 'knack' for making other people feel good, he brought happiness and good cheer to all those around him, in Yeshiva and without.
His much cultivated respect for his parents was incredible. There was nothing he would not do for them.
He put much thought and attention into his davening, and so many other mitzvos halevavos, with unusual purity and dedication.
His life's passion was by far limud haTorah. He simply loved to learn. He invested huge kochos into iyun Hatorah his entire life, learning in depth many portions of Torah with great clarity. Besides giving many chaburos in Yeshiva, he merited to write an acclaimed sefer Shemuos Shimon on Bava Metzia, Kesubos & Nedorim.
Simultaneously, R' Shimon had an unstoppable desire to complete Shas. He actually devised a comprehensive plan on how to accomplish that goal and in the shortest time possible. As his final illness progressed, his constant refrain to the people close to him was - "I want to live, I need to finish Shas". Indeed, during the last months of his life, despite the unremitting pain and agony he was in, he spent almost every waking moment in and out of the hospital glued to his gemorah, conquering daf after daf with a heightened sense of urgency and mission.
From a young age he also raised 'chazarah' up on a pedestal. He meticulously reviewed everything he learnt numerous times. There were some mesectos he reviewed tens of times. A few weeks before his petira, a seudas siyum was held in his apartment attended by many of his friends and rebbeim upon his completion of meseches Bava Basra for yet another time. At that bittersweet siyum, amidst the throes of his final illness, R' Shimon haltingly expressed the 'pain' that he has from the fact that there are so many budding young lomdim whom could really develop into much greater talmidei chachamim, if only they would invest more into 'chazarah'. R' Shimon then went on to issue a personal appeal to everyone in the room to make a kabbalah for daily chazara (not for his zechus but for their own benefit). This in a poignant way was his final tzavah to the world - invest wisely your time and energy into chazarah, for it is the only key to true success in limud Hatorah!
Despite all his natural talents, and his many accomplishments, R' Shimon was a truly humble person, מעורב בין הבריות to a fault, and always putting the spotlight on others.
With his short but well lived life, R' Shimon Frank z"l was like a sparkling meteorite blazing through the night time sky, providing extraordinary luminance and inspiration for his family, his friends, and all those who knew him, for ever and ever.
Alas, R' Shimon, an only child to his chosheve parents, did not merit to have children. His close friends have decided to perpetuate his spiritually rich legacy by comishining a Sefer Torah to be written in his memory.
Please contribute to this Sefer Torah campaign l’ilui nishmaso, and may it be a true source of nechoma for our entire family.

I felt compelled to express my deep appreciation for the outstanding derashah uploaded yesterday, featuring the words of Rav Michoel Sorotzkin shlit”a on the exalted personality of Rav Chaim of Volozhin zt”l.
ReplyDeleteI listened to the entire presentation and was simply mis’aneg on every sentence. Beyond the Rav’s breathtaking bekius and amkus in every chelek of Torah, and beyond his extraordinary koach hadibbur, what is so striking is that he is mamash a walking encyclopedia of the divrei hayomim and mesorah of Gedolei Yisroel throughout the generations. Every name, every episode, every nuance, is presented with such clarity, depth, and chiyus that one feels transported into the world of the great baalei hamesorah themselves.
Every shiur and derashah of his that appears on the various Torah platforms is a true matnas Shamayim, and especially when the subject is so rich, so fascinating, and so connected to the foundations of the yeshivah world and the mesorah of Klal Yisroel.
Thank you for sharing such elevated and inspiring Torah content. It is a tremendous zikui harabim, and it is deeply appreciated.
If you feel so compelled then feel free to pay for an ad
DeleteInteresting. One person heard Torah and was moved to gratitude; another saw gratitude and was moved to suspicion. That contrast speaks for itself.
Deleteno more cooperation with zionism
ReplyDeleteAs if you ever did
DeleteThe new . mashgiach was not asked to speak as the program was meant to be entertaining
ReplyDeleteHe may also have been appalled at the use of strobe lights
DeleteTomorrow’s primary election is a reminder: if we want real change, we need candidates who can actually build a movement.
ReplyDeleteNot people looking for a position, but people who are financially independent, have no personal interests tied to the township, and are focused only on what’s best for the general tzibur.
A serious candidate needs to get their message out, ask the public for support, build a team, raise funds, and run a real campaign. There is plenty of frustration in town, but frustration alone doesn’t win elections.
It may be time for new people to step up and give residents a real choice.
Note. The sandwiches labeled said
ReplyDelete"roll made with fruit juices"
1) Since when do Bnie Torah make lechatchilah a mezonos brachah on fruit juice made bread sandwiches?
2) Even if you hold that you can make a mezonos, that is only if the bread is made from ROVE fruit juice. Here it did NOT state that this is is case!!!!
is it not safe to assume it was made with Rov otherwise what would be the purpose?
DeleteDoesn't have to be ROV, just taste remaining of the fruit or oil (brioche) or chocolate.
DeleteObviously, the Rav hamachshir determines that.
The Satmar Rav, z"l personally got involved in the mezonot broit for his talmidim.
Since when do we make a brachah bacef on a assumption? Maybe yes, maybe no.
ReplyDeleteDon't eat it.
DeleteIt would be worse to make a wrong bracha.
So how could Aderey Torah have put out such a MICHSHAL for so many thousands of people??
ReplyDeleteNo michshol. Tthe RYs know that mezonot bread is valid.
DeleteCheck what's served in the yeshiva's dining room.
Let's say they hold from mezonos bread sandwiches . How was one to know that the bread in these sandwiches were made from Rove fruit juice. They did not lable that fact clearly on the sandwiches!
