- According to the new U.S. Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates released today, Lakewood, New Jersey's population grew by over 6% between 2020 and 2025, and continues to stay ahead of Elizabeth for the fourth most populated town in the state. According to the Census, Lakewood's population is now at 143,765, trailing only Newark (323,808), Jersey City (302,013) and Paterson (161,793). (Shlomoschorr)

- Traffic woes continued disrupting life in Lakewood last night, with road closures on major arteries causing major delays as residents prepare for Shabbos and the upcoming Shavuos season. Local officials have yet to publicly address the ongoing congestion or take responsibility for the disruptions. Meanwhile, businesses say they are losing customers and revenue as shoppers struggle to access stores and shopping areas.

- Legislation sponsored by Assemblyman Avi Schnall to modernize New Jersey’s nursing home administrator licensing process advanced Thursday out of the Assembly Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations Committee, which Schnall chairs. The bill would create an online application portal, establish a structured 1,750-hour training program, allow applicants to count training hours completed while awaiting approval, set standards for supervising administrators, and give applicants three chances to pass the licensing exam before additional requirements can be imposed.

- Fears over a possible cancer cluster in New Jersey are intensifying after the number of reported cases in one community reportedly surged to nearly 200 people, according to a new report published Thursday. Residents in the Keyport area have raised concerns for months about unusually high cancer rates near the former Aeromarine landfill site, where environmental officials previously identified contaminants including benzene, arsenic, and PCBs in groundwater. State officials have not confirmed a formal cancer cluster designation, but investigations and community pressure continue to grow.
