" describes a deeply troubling case involving an elderly woman in her 80s who was euthanized the same day, despite earlier stating she wanted to live.

    According to the report:
    - The woman initially requested MAiD while in medical decline
    - She later withdrew her request, citing personal and religious values, and asked for hospice care instead
    - Hospice admission was denied
    - Her husband, experiencing caregiver burnout, pushed for an urgent MAiD reassessment
    - One assessor objected, citing concerns about coercion and the rushed timeline
    - Despite this, two other assessors approved the request
    - She was euthanized that evening

The case is fueling .. whether MAiD safeguards are always bound to be eroded, particularly when vulnerable patients lack adequate care options."
