Just as the snow from the last storm has melted away another bigger storm is in the forecast with the Lakewood area in the center up to 24 inches expected.
-Snow will start falling after 2pm on Sunday
-Some forecast now predicting over 40 inches for the Ocean County area.
With a storm expected to start on Sunday morning, Feb. 22, the National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Monmouth and Ocean counties, predicting between 18 and 24 inches of snow by the time it ends Monday afternoon. Major coastal flooding could also be an issue.
New Jersey officials declared a state of emergency Saturday in advance of a major winter storm expected to slam the state with 8 to 20 inches of snow and blizzard conditions.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill made the declaration effective noon Sunday during an afternoon press conference at the NJ Transit station in Maplewood. “I am urging you to stay off the roads Sunday through Monday,” Sherrill said. “The heaviest snowfall is expected between Sunday night and Monday morning.”
