10:00 pm update
- While many areas in Lakewood have been plowed, there are still roads that residents say were not touched or still covered with snow in developments off Rt 9 south and other areas along rt 70
- LSTA, said in a statement approximately 450 drivers are required to operate morning routes. Nearly 95 percent of drivers live in neighboring towns, where public schools remain closed and road conditions are still difficult. As a result, many drivers are unable to report to work.
This combination of closures and travel limitations has created a substantial staffing shortage.
- There's NO LSTA busing tomorrow several girls schools already canceled for tomorrow. Boys schools have not updated information yet.

- NWS: All Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Warnings have been cancelled. A few snow showers remain possible through this afternoon but accumulations are pretty much done and over with.

A mandatory travel restriction in New Jersey has been extended until noon Monday as a major winter storm continues to slam the state
Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced the extension on FOX5 New York Monday morning.
Sherrill said high winds and white out conditions persist across the state.
More than a foot of snow was recorded in some New Jersey towns Monday morning, including 19 inches in Freehold and 18.5 inches in Mount Holly, according to the National Weather Service. “Plows are having trouble even seeing some of the guardrails to get the snow off the roads,“ Sherrill said on FOX5 New York. ”We’re down to pavement on the turnpike, but we’re working to get there on the Garden State (Parkway).”

What we see on our streets is not work—it is blatant resource sabotage.
The method is disgraceful: a salt truck passes through, applying expensive de-icing agents, only to be followed minutes later by a plow that shoves that fresh salt directly into the gutter before it can even work. This cycle repeats all night. This is not snow removal. This is the artificial inflation of labor hours and material costs on OUR dime!
The brutal facts:
Total Disorganization: In the age of AI and modern logistics, it is unacceptable to lack a coordinated schedule.
Wealth Drain: Our taxes are not a slush fund for ineffective circling and wasted fuel.
Endangerment: Despite the "work," our roads remain treacherous by morning, risking our families' safety and our livelihoods.
WE DEMAND:
An immediate audit of all snow removal protocols by City Leadership!
The implementation of a modern, transparent, digital management system that eliminates redundant and self-canceling operations!
Respect for the community’s funds and our collective safety!

Seems like someone has way too much spare time… we are experiencing a blizzard that we haven’t seen in over 10 years. As far as regular snow storms, we haven’t had any for the past 2 years. So I’m not sure what you’re whole “megila” is in reference to.

Why are all the keyboard warriors suddenly quiet about the cleanup effort? Nothing is perfect but overall the township did a fantastic job on this storm and they should be recognized for that.

Within a couple of hours of the storm's ending, the streets I saw were nicely shoveled.

ReplyDeleteAgain I will say that at 1:54 AM TO BR EXACT ONE TRUCK HAS FINALLY COME to the regency (shilo,hekel) Area. Guess what!!! They literally did half a job! Only one side of the street got plowed. We have mountains of snow in all our parking spots that is brutally hard to move without a plow truck. Talk about incompetence!!! We all parked our cars far away off the block ALL DAY AND NIGHT so we can have clean streets and .. nothing. Thanks for nothing, lakewood big shots. NEXT STORM COMES I'M STAYING AT MY SPOT.
