- Updated: Mordechai Ben Sara Rena, a 23-year-old Lakewood bochur, was sentenced Wednesday to six years in New Jersey State Prison without the possibility of parole for a 2022 drunken-driving crash that killed a 44-year-old woman. The NJ sentencing guidelines require that for certain crimes one must sit for 85% of the time before they are eligible for parole.
Tzedek association Director Rabbi Moshe Margaretten bemoaned the verdict in a statement to Belaaz news: “It is with great pain that we share the difficult news that Mordy Berkowitz was sentenced today to six years in prison despite the judge noting several times how impressed he was with the accountability campaign supported by Tzedek.”“We believe this sentence is extraordinarily harsh and deeply unfair, and with Hashem’s help, and your continued tefillos, we will succeed!”
Rabbi Margaretten noted “Mordy has already spent the last three years on home confinement. The victims and their families themselves pleaded for mercy. In the neighboring county he would have likely faced zero prison time.”
“Our campaign generated nearly 50,000 pledges from people committing never to drink and drive again a true kiddush Hashem and a testament to real accountability. Yet the prosecutors still sought ten years.”(Belaaz)

We cannot compromise with the Zionists shmad efforts (giyus) even a little bit its all an effort to make us frei.
ReplyDeleteGood idea.
DeleteNo compromise.
Everyone serves.
Even better: Only males with fully ehrliche lifestyle c/should serve.
DeleteEverybody else must go home.
It's All or Nothing.
Go raise that possibility.
Your team should adore that scenario.
Ha.
Except the big draft pushers would rather close down the whole state than allow such a horrid option to gosh come to pass!

ReplyDeleteI am very conflicted about the case and the verdict. While I don't wish bad on anyone, when a goy killed a frum person, we were all pressuring the prosecutor and judge to go hard on him. Why would we not demand the same in this case?
ReplyDeleteWere a goy to have killed a frum person and then expressed clear remorse and made a major campaign to educate people with don't be like me and do reckless driving I would not be pressuring the prosecutor and judge to go hard on him.
DeleteThat story was completely different. Nobody is justifying this story. It is precisely his remorse that renders a jail sentence superfluous
Deletenothing to conflicted about - now you see that you were wrong.
DeleteRemorse is what his attorney instructed him.Nearly every criminal shows remorse.
DeleteThat woman who killed the mother & children in NY had better crocodile tears. Now she only has to serve 3.
She partied away beforehand now claims to be unstable
She was a yid. Who grew up datiyah.
DeleteAnd she was well-off.
And the victim was not only Jewish, but datiyah. You know judges don't care for dusim.
Does house arrest count as credit?
ReplyDeleteHow many years after deducting time served?
What a badge of honor that unzere representatives are milking the system with these MUA desk jobs while unzereh tax dollars pay for these self appointed positions that they get big salary benefits for 12 hours a year.
ReplyDeleteDisgusting
Remember they will have to answer after 120 no one gets away Scott free . Everyone pays at some point in time. But yes I agree it's beyond disgusting and disloyal. What do they do for those 12 hours a year anyway?
ReplyDeleteThis is how they get paid back for their public service...look how many jobs and titles the committeemen have double and triple dipping on public salaries. Between these fake boards commissions and authorities each one with more benefits
Deletewhy does margaretten think that "in a neighboring county" he would likely have gotten no time? where did he get that idea from?
ReplyDeleteThere is a big problem with the ocean county prosecutors office the past two years. They caught some askunim trying to cover up some stuff and since then the relationship turned very sour. Unfortunately our chachmei Lakewood decided to double down with pressure on the LPD and the OCPO and it’s continuing to backfire
DeleteIt seems to me that Lakewood's askanim are inexperienced and overconfident, which is why so many inexplicable stories have happened.
DeleteOr plain klepto-criminal who operate with presumption whoever is their particular boss & underboss can always whitewash & bail out their kapos
