NJ lawmakers advance legislation to revamp LSTA Faa reports
The Assembly Education Committee today advanced legislation that establishes a statewide nonpublic school transportation program to provide funding to consortiums of nonpublic schools that will assume responsibility for mandated nonpublic school busing. This bill would essentially replace the "Lakewood-community based" LSTA with a new "statewide-run" consortium. The new consortium would be established by the Commissioner of Education.  This bill will allow children from various school districts to pool together under a consortium and have busing provided to all of them. The consortium may provide non-mandated busing to students attending the nonpublic schools that are a part of the consortium, provided that the parents or guardians of those students pay all of the costs of that transportation. The LSTA has been plagued with many complaints regarding mismanagement. Many of the complaints are rooted in the fact that, as a private entity the LSTA does not have the same legal responsibility of transparency as the Lakewood Board of Education has. More

Former President Trump Indicted by Biden DOJ

Trump charged over classified documents in 1st federal indictment of an ex-president

MIAMI (AP) — Donald Trump said Thursday that he was indicted for mishandling classified documents at his Florida estate, a remarkable development that makes him the first former president in U.S. history to face criminal charges by the federal government that he once oversaw.

The indictment carries unmistakably grave legal consequences, including the possibility of prison if he’s convicted.

Video: Mark Levin reacts to Trump Indictment

The Justice Department did not immediately confirm the indictment publicly. But two people familiar with the situation who were not authorized to discuss it publicly said the indictment included seven criminal counts. One of those people said Trump’s lawyers were contacted by prosecutors shortly before he announced on his Truth Social platform that he had been indicted.

Hershel Hershkowitz Files To Run For Seat On Lakewood Township Committee

As first reported by FAA News R' Hershel Hershkowitz Files to Run for a seat on The Lakewood Township Commitee

From Faa: Hershel Herskowitz has officially filed a petition with the Ocean County Clerk to run for membership on the Lakewood Township Committee, FAA News has learned.
R' Hershel is running as an independent candidate on the ballot for the General Election.

The deadline to file petitions as an independent candidate was yesterday. R' Hershel is the only independent candidate running in Lakewood, FAA News has confirmed.

R' Hershel emphasized to FAA News that originally he did not plan to run this year, however, he agreed to throw his hat into the ring because numerous community members highlighted to him that this year specifically there is an open seat being vacated by Mike D'Elia and therefore he would not be running against any incumbent, a factor that caused previous election runs to look like "fighting."

In other words, there are other new candidates in this election, however they are all running equally to win Mike D'Elia's empty seat.

His campaign slogan in "The People's Lakewood."

"The other candidates simply do not know the needs of our community," said Herskowitz, a veteran Downtown business owner.

"People say don't run because Lakewood is anyways a 'goner.' I feel that by saying that, the problems will only get worse," Herskowitz added. "I believe in Lakewood and I want to steer the town to fix whatever is left."

- Tax increase for Lakewood homeowners typical new duplex to go up $560. Lakewood's Township Committee this past year granted short and long-term tax abatements to 36 new commercial buildings around town. These tax cuts have resulted in a loss of over $5.77 million in tax revenue for this past year alone. To make up for this lost revenue, the Township Committee is now planning on increasing our property taxes for the coming year by over $3 million. A typical new duplex will see a $560 increase to their total annual property tax bill. Had all these properties been assessed their full taxable value, our taxes would have actually decreased. Instead, our taxes are increasing to make up for the lost revenue. Soutce FAA

He also said this “hardens” his administration’s efforts to battle climate change, which experts say is contributing to more extreme weather events. “Climate change is here,” Murphy said. “Unfortunately, this is our new reality.”

How could it top last year’s event?
That was the question on everyone’s mind. After all, the first Adirei HaTorah asifa one year ago was an extraordinary maamad that left all attendees deeply inspired. What would the second time be like? As it turned out, the Adirei HaTorah asifa last night turned out to be just as extraordinary, if not more so, than last year. 25,000+, people came out strong, united, and with one goal: to proclaim the glory of our nation’s yungeleit, the Adirei HaTorah.
