- A front cover article in The Voicenof Lakewood, “Convenient Care Comes at a Cost” by Dr. Robert Shanik and Dr. Ira Haimowitz, argues that increasing reliance on urgent care centers and convenience-based medical services can lead to substandard pediatric care. They argue that many families are choosing urgent care centers or home-visit services for convenience rather than consulting their child's regular pediatrician. According to the authors, this can result in: Misdiagnoses,Unnecessary testing and treatments, Incomplete medical records, Different providers treating the same child without knowledge of prior history, Missed serious medical conditions.
A consistent relationship with a primary pediatrician generally leads to safer and more effective care than relying on multiple urgent care or home-visit providers.

ReplyDeleteThe article against urgent care was with negius. It could be that equal to the times the pcp caught something that urgent care missed, so it is vice versa. Plenty of kids were misdiagnosed by their primary doctor only to have a great diagnostician at an urgent care catch it. This even includes cancer caught very early for a teen by an urgent care doctor.
ReplyDeleteFrom the article:
Delete"We know some people reading this may say we are just trying to knock the competition. If you want to believe that, go ahead. As doctors who have dedicated our lives to caring for the children of Lakewood and the surrounding towns, we are speaking out because we are concerned.
We don't care if you are a patient of Pediatric Affiliates or of any of the other fine pediatric offices in town. We just want to ensure that all the children in our community are getting the very best care possible."
I'm not sure how it's better to see a different PA, NP or (even a Dr. once in a while) at established practices.
DeleteYou can't get a appointment at the pediatrician. what are people supposed to do when they kid has fever?
DeleteWait 3-4 days or go right away to an urgent care
That disclaimer thinks we're dumb. I personally don't see an issue with their use of AI. But don't call me dumb. The more words you use, the more obvious that you are trying to cver someting up.
ReplyDeleteAdirei should stop trying to defend what they do. Yes they are raising money for youngeleit in BMG but they are a different entity who don't do everything hashkaficlklly the BMG way. So instead of trying to פארענטפער everything why they do this and that with singers websites AI videos Balei batim fressing sushi and meats and drinking in the VIP boxes. Just keep quiet and keep doing what you do. We understand this is how you do and this is what you feel is needed to raise the money.
DeleteIt is impossible to separate a Yeshiva from its money. If an institution does treifa things for money, the institutions is treif.
DeleteImagine if 10% of the 144 million to keren olam would go to pay tuitions in Lakewood that's 14 million right there
ReplyDeleteThe you wouldn't have the zchus of paying for your child's chinuch. I can't afford it so I don't pay full. And the gvirim donate to the school to make up the difference.
DeleteThe schools raised tuition to unaffordable for the middle class there's a reason why tuition balances are unpaid this year.
DeleteThanks to Torah Umeaorah for empowering the schools to raise tuition on parents while the gevirim pose for photo op meetings
DeleteTo call that shameful embarassing attack on the home of the Supreme court justice a "demonstration" is itself shameful!
ReplyDeleteYeah, but he had it coming. It is embarrassing that people resort to any violence.
DeleteBut Sohlberg began with the violence. He should stop whining about his plant pots and at the same time stop sending people to arrest yeshiva bochurim.
Hachnosas sefer torah lz"n habocher dovid yitzchok handler zt"l Ben rav moshe shlita he was nebach niftar just over a year ago in the car accident with other bochurim right before shvous . ReplyDeleteHacnosas sefer torah today
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree we have to help the gedolim and the yeshivas in eretz yisroel we need to help our neighbors 1st. Aniyei ircha kodmin I understand includes aniyei eretz yisroel but it doesnt obsilve you of helping youe neighbors. You would be surprised how many people youre close to whether family friends neighbors or shul goers need your help!!! Open your eyes!!
ReplyDeleteAniyei ey have a the same din as aniyei irchu
DeleteGo make your appeals for Lakewood Aniyim when Keren Olam HaTorah isn't in town. And don't give me the line with there is nothing left over because of them. All year round no one is screaming about helping Lakewood Aniyim . All the sudden when Keren Olam HaTorah is in town people claim to be be so worried about them...Had they not come no one would worrying about Lakewood Aniyim now either.
DeleteThe issue is not with keren olam haTorah it's about the locals leaders pushing for it while doing nothing to help aniyei ircha
DeleteSame with the Schnall election rabbonim signed letters how important it is to vote because of tuition but nothing was done about easing the pain. They did nothing to help lower tuition costs.
Who is stopping you doing something for aniyei ircha? Get up and do something. There is plenty of money out there, get your hands on some of it for aniyim.
DeleteRav A C Levine Ztl called the gabboim in Chicago and made every shul adopt a kollel in EY they asked rabbi don't we have local organizations to support? He answered the bracha Hashem will pay you for supporting Toras EY will enable to support also the local organizations
ReplyDelete- The vaad hatzdaka in Chicago used to force all outside organizations to give maaser to local mosdos. Don't know if this is still a practice.
